ok, I am sure I'll catch some heat for this but, these cars sound like they are more trouble than they are worth. My girlfriend bought one yesterday in Fl. and is still on here way home with it. She cannot find a washer fluid bottle to fill, gas station attendant found a small "front main leak", and oil press. dropped off while waiting at a red light on a steep incline.
I guess I sould have researched the car before we bought it. It all went so fast and she loved the car. I understand that low oil pressure at idle is ok for this car and I sould replace stock gauges with aftermarket units. I'll figure out the pisser tank when the car gets here. But hearing about a possable main leak and the reading about crankwalk...
I am just getting nervous. Did we buy a lemon?
There sure seems to be alot of problems with these cars! Someone give me a reason to not regret this purchase.

Here is what ai know about the car: 95 gst, evo III turbo, new head, arp studs, cometic 4 layer head gasket, Greddy 3" cat back, new timing belt, Injen turbo intake, 145,000 miles rebuilt @ 105,000 :sosad:

here is a small picture of Kim's car.

do I have to delete old pics before I can put up new ones??

I put up 2 pics of my truck and had to resize them before I could put up the pic of her eclipse. there is a meter that fills up and limits the amount of pictures I can post.

got her car in the garage for a little bit tonight. the oil pan is most of the leak. was able to turn 4 of the bolts at least 2 complete turns before they even snugged! they all were a little loose. plus it looks like the cork gasket was ripped a little and someone used silicone to seal it.

looks like some oil is leaking from the head gasket near the front cam gear also. did some cleaning tonight and drove it home, will check in the morning. this being a new head, and aluminum, should it be retorqued? is supposed to have arp studs also.
will the torque specs be different from stock due to the studs and "cometic 4-layer metal head gasket"?

next is the clutch. it seems to slip around 4000 rpm and 18,19 psi. 1:this seems like alot of boost 2:it feels like the clutch slipping to me, could it be something else?

WTF

Do the RPMs jump when youre accelerating and the MPH doesnt move? Then most likely the clutch is slipping. But remember it may not be the clutch's fault, if you have an oil leak back there, look out rear main.

And dont get discouraged. Once you own a DSM for long enough, ASE should recognize you as a Master Tech.

the only thing that makes me think it is not the clutch is the fact that I cannot MAKE it slip down low. only when the Rs are up and the boost gauge is somewhere between 15 and 20.

first I'll replace the oil pan gasket. I noticed today that one of the plug wires has a nice gash in it! so new wires are in order, as well as checking spark plugs and gap.

how do you clean injectors? w/ a fuel additive? can anyone recommend one?

also, the air filter is filthy, and the wires to one of the O2 sensors have been cut off. the guy we bought this car from said it was ok, only makes the ces light come on. that sound right to you???

I'm going to wager that the boost is set too high for the car. 20psi on pump is doable but it definitely needs to be tuned correctly for that. Get a logger and find out.

Make sure to get NGK BPR6ES plugs, gapped to 0.028

Some debate the effectiveness of such products, but I like the Techron products.

Provided that the rear o2 sensor is the one that has been cut, yes that is ok, and yes it will throw a code sometimes.

Welcome to Tuners.

Techron is the ONLY product out there that I've found to be effective... I have a '91 5S-FE powered machine at home, and they run so rich that carbon builds up insanely quick... Techron is the only thing I've found so far that can keep it cleaned out (I use the concentrate too, not the weaker varieties).

If the clutch is indeed slipping, the reason it wont slip in the lower rpms is cause the motor isnt making much power but when boost rises and power increases the clutch could slip if its worn out or was installed improperly.

I bet his turbo is boost creeping up to 20 psi as well. Probably want to get that fixed by porting or with an external wastegate setup.

I was conserned about boost creep also. The previous owner said he had it set at 19 psi, but I don't know for sure. has a 3" cat back, stock cat forward. dont know if it has been ported or not. I'm just gathering info and working on the truck for now. Will get into the eclipse more this spring. She can drive the honda for now. LOL
