DSM Meet March 1st - Daly City @ 7PM

Hey guys, I'm really looking into buying a DSM and you all seem like a good bunch. I was wondering if I could tag along the next meet (whenever it might be) to hang out, ask questions and browse my potential new car? :sneaky: Trying to find a GSX.

Hopefully this was the right place to put this, didn't seem new thread worthy.

Thanks!

Well welcome to the dsm world... And ya feel free to tag along to our next meet whenever it is... There is alot of thing you can learn from this site.. I myself has found pretty much answers to all my questions here.. :thumb: just searh and chances are someone out there has already asked it LOL.. So good luck with finding your GSX im lookin for one with a blown engine as well

I changed the 1g maf to another working 1g maf, and the codes 13 and 25 popped up, could it be my wiring on the ecu???? I do have a safc hooked up, but it wasnt like that before, somehow can the wires touching each other mess it up? J/w

code 13 is air temp sensor, which is also in the maf. I'd check the maf plug and wires going into the maf plug to make sure they are still solid. The wires can come loose from being twisted and bent for years, and the wires are weakest where they go into the plug. Yes, check the SAFC wires, too.
Does the SAFC show good readings for TPS and airflow Hz?

GSXEcutioner a few times with my 2g it started sputtering on me when i gave it gas just driving.. and when i played with my wires in my MAF connecter it went away.. made sure they were all tight and no wires were open.. havent had a prob since.. so i would doulbe check the wires and stuff to make sure they are in good condition :thumb:

GSExicutioner, also check your battery. If volts are really low it'll throw codes.
Do you have a logger? Check baro and IAT to see if they have really odd readings, like 360*F airtemp. Baro should read 99% or 14.5. IAT should read the same as outside airtemp when the car is cold, or around 80 to 150*F when the car is hot.

Thanks! I'm sure I'll go now if it's at the right time. Yeah I've been searching and looking at things for a bit now. I was trying to find sort of a list of common problems and what people don't like (we had one in the rsx forum and it was a great way to sum up all the downers and how to fix them)

Good luck to you too. Are you just looking for a shell? or did you mean you blew the engine in your car.

Next meet will probably be in Union City. Even if you don't have your GSX yet, you could stop by, ask questions, and check out our cars. We got a good group here.

That's not too bad, only about 20-30 mins away (I'm in San Jose). I'll try and keep an eye out for when it is.

PM me. I have a bunch of dsm's for sale. I need to get rid of all them to start a new project.

ok forsure, i mean my homie whose a mechanic, i took it to his shop, he too has a tsi AWD, checked the connector, replaced it and cleaned it out, he said it wouldnt be the connector, and the maf is his old maf that worked perfectly fine, he told me i should check out the wires to the safc now, since (my ecu hangs people tend to touch it with their feet at all) and yes it reads good on the safc, except sometimes the rpm wire stops working and i gotta retouch it to the wire on the ecu.............maybe i should redo the whole wiring on it 0_o?

i do have a logger, so IAT is Intake air temp????? and baro is just barometer pressure?

hey guys, my SAFC's been hooked up since january, no problems there, over the past four months I have been gettin a CEL of code 44 (coil packs) since i have replaced it with about three known working ones, but the code still pops up. now it has gone away (no idea how), now i got 5 codes, I dont remember exactly the number but I do know what they are for. 1)Cam Angle Sensor. 2) Coolant temp (I havent had a sensor on my thermostat housing since I bought the car and it hasnt appeared til now) 3) TDC, 4) Barometric, and the 5)Air Temp sensor, IDK whats going on, I had the maf changed with my friends GOOD maf from his 92 talon tsi awd, and it still pops the codes, I also redid the wires to the safc today, please let me know, I am going to the track sunday. Thanks

(copied and pasted most from the tech forum. But please help me -___-)

i wouldnt go to the track to race the car until you get everything figured out. You dont want to run a car with all those potential problems as it wont be to full potential and wont be fun and it will have a higher chance of breaking something else.

forsure, thats why i was wondering if it was my ECU at all. or what do you all think???? I want to fix these problems asap

That only works for a while. You can't leave the ecu hanging by the wires all the time or else it'll start breaking where the wires connect to the circuit board. Try a good ecu next.

I will do that tomorrow, *cross fingers* I hope it works.

I was looking into doin an AWD swap... but it would be alot eaiser for me to just find a GSX that needs an engine and just put all my stuff in it... :thumb:

I would ditch the SAFC and get an eprom with dsmlink... that was THE best thing i ever did for my car... WELL worth the money.. i too was a SAFC person.. its a night and day different.

I got an Eprom from a guy in windsor yesterday, drove out there and works perfectly for $50 :hellyeah:

There ya go.. LOL.. now you just one step away from dsmlink haha... Your car feels so much better with it.. its a night an day difference how your car runs... good luck :thumb:

You must have been damn close to get a ticket like that, try to fight it.
