This is my first post to DSM tuners, Here is a little bio about the car i am building. Its a 93 talon TSI 5speed. I put a 6 bolt engine in it with eagle rods, wiseco pistons. The car still has the stock unhacked 1g maf, stock fuel system, and a 16g turbo. Im only running 10psi of boost. My question is i have dsm link V2, well i installed it in the car. The car cranks over and everything gets spark but it gets no fuel. The ecu is not telling the injectors to open. Tried hooking up the laptop to link cannot get the ecu to communicate with the lap top. It just says connection timed out. Anyone have any ideas how to trouble shoot dsm link? On a side note i did have a local shop install the dsm link prom on the ECU. Is it possible they installed it incorrectly? Any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Sounds like the ECU isn't working.

Does the Check Engine Light turn on for 5 seconds when you turn the ignition on?
Does the boost gauge move to zero when you turn the ignition on before you start cranking?

It's hard to put the daughter board in the ECU the wrong way but it's even harder to know across the internet without a picture. Can you post one? Did you have this shop socket your ECU?

I'd guess that the ECU isn't running and that's why the car isn't.
 
yea the check engine light comes on, dunno for how long though i will check it tonight. I will also get a pic up tonight. I didnt have it socketed they just soldered the Eprom in. Thanks for the help

We are talking about a 1G DSMLink right?
On a 1G the EPROM comes in the daughterboard and that plugs into the ECU.

The EPROM would fit into the open socket shown here on the daughterboard not directly on the ECU board.

You need to be able to connect to the ecu before we can really help you.

In the mean time, try unhooking the tps sensor and try starting the car again.

Dsmlink has a cranking fuel cut built in. If the tps value is close to 100% while cranking, the ecu shuts down the injectors to help clear flooding conditions.

Also to change the com port Dsmlink is looking for go to Edit/Options/Config.

If you need help quicker, it would be worth posting on the Dsmlink forums.
 
I would register on the forums, but my friend does not have a login ID for the link forums so im kinda SOL LOL. Anyway i think I might know what the prob is. The Chip is soldered directly to the board, im gonna guess i need that daugher board. LOL Anyone know where i can get a daughter board?
 
On a 1G without the daughterboard you don't actually have DSMLink.

I'm having the same problem and Steve has checked my ecu out and it works.

Well I know that you not having exactly the same problem since you do have a complete 1G DSMLink daughterboard.

I'd suggest making a thread specific to your problems because I don't think they are related to this one. You can PM me the link to it.
