DSM & Evo Meet September 19th, Salinas CA

I'm sorry you felt that way savageevo. Your right the meet was kind of out of wack because the manager wrote down the wrong date on his calendar, but he did try to better the situation by bringing us FREE food, yet alone having this take place at a Mitsubishi dealership. I would be dissapointed too if I had a long commute and showed to be close to no cars at all, but you know what? There were a lot of clean rides there..... AND I used to commute to Hollister and back to salinas every day to work and the drive is not bad at all! Well you guys are invited to the next meet and Dsm guys will hold no grudges since they liked this meet a lot and I'm sure they will love the next one to come since it is going to be better planned out! I still say it was a great turnout!

thank you for the attempt at a meet, but i think i speak for most of the Evo community when i say it sucked. lots of us drove from pretty far, to be let down with a small showing, and literally no food. theres was barely enough pizza to tickle taste buds, let alone put a dent in anyones stomachs. it was completely unorganized. most likely, you wont see any further involvement from most of us, ### the word has spread fast thru our communities.

i enjoyed seeing the couple clean cars out there, that looked like the owner took pride in. and some interesting builds like that Holsten snail in your ecplipse thunder. but some people just spraypainted an entire engine bay? eww

There have been damn near NO dsm meets that have been big. Those meets were only about 5-10 cars from what I recall. If this meet down in salinas was more than that, bravo it was a big meet.

I heard there was some negativity down at this meet you guys had. Its meaningless to turn this into a dsm vs evo thing. Instead of not coming to another meet, you should be TRYING to get MORE people to come. But if you dont want to, just stay home and piss and moan about it only being a 10 car meet.

Remember, we need a positive vibe at these shindigs. Damn near every other community has it, why not the dsm and evo world? Do I have to bring my belt to a meet and bend someone over my knee or what?

I am sure we can get a solid 10-15 DSMs together that are really into the cars and willing to guide some of the newcomers to the game. It will only help this "culture".

it was a great group of guys, and still a good time. there was just lots of disappointment based on what was promised. meets are meets though, but there were people driving from further north in the upper east bay that came down, and a lot of us get some poor gas milage, so push meeting shove, it was a let down. we'd like to hang out more, we always do. perhaps a meet a little further north, at least in the south bay, would yield better results, and keep travel time fairly equal for all. itll help with a better turn out as well. the date thing, just seemed all to "dealership-like". ask me how i know, ### i work at a dealership, and have for over 6 years. just typical sales department, thats all. we tend to have large turnouts at our semi annual meets, with 100-200 EVOS, and evos alone. DJ's, karting, raffles, food, models.... just some suggestions to make your "big meets" a little more poppin and something to talk about. i didnt mean to come in and sound like i was talkin shit, which i may have, and i appologize for if it came off that way. honestly, we have weekly meets from 8-10ish almost everynight of the week thru the bay, and each one averages 10+ cars per night, sometimes upwards of 30 at a night, which was larger than the meet there in salinas. i do thank you for trying, its not easy work putting these together

Sometimes mistakes do happen, but we try to work with them right? I'm sorry if a BBQ was ?PROMISED? and you guys got to eat free pizza. Now, for the Evo guys from the bay area who were dissapointed in the meet and getting no food.... (I've read the Evo forums) either you guys came late, or you just didn't help yourself. I know I did! Two plate fulls if I might add . Anyway ask any bay area dsm'ers who showed up to this event and what they thought of it. I'm sure 95% of them liked it. Like I said, we will be tripple prepared for the next event and like turbodsm90 you guys should try getting more evo's involved so you guys can be pleased. I will also talk to the manager to try to get some music going on. Last salinas meet we had, BBQ was awsome guud! I will quadruple check he will make the BBQ happen!

We should do a meet in san jose or milpitas...i know of a couple of good spots to do a meet... McCarthy Ranch in Milpitas, or Hellyer park in san jose, jz some suggestions....i kno of sum evos and sum other dsms that would be down...but yeah totally down for a meet next month if theres one.....plus i finally get my cf hood this week and new rims nxt week...so ill be rollin pretty clean nxt time around...hehehe

Does anyone know anyone that runs a restaurant, q cup, or quicklys open late? Maybe even have the meet at a neutral stereo or tire shop. If the salinas dealer is it, then thats all we can do really. No biggie, I have driven my car to santa cruz and back for a cruise/meet. No issues at all. The key is not going WOT

We have no problem in making this happen here. The bay area c.h.p's are way more strick and also seem to more know about forced induction cars. Over here we don't have strick chp's compared to there, and the dealership is really close to the freeway. Plus the weather is always fresh and not suppppper hott like the bay.

Like I said, it's up to the dsm'ers.

Savage, i know youve seen my board name around norcalevo, as well as my old job title username "shane@m4" and Brunoboy on evoempire, its cool thatyou evo guys decided to come through , but look at your guys car, 100-200 is not saying much when your cars are only 7 years old or newer, vs our 20 year olds cars, so of course your meets will be bigger. Everyone and their moms drive an evo aha. My brother drives one as well so yep way more common, back to the point, ive attended those norcal evo meets at stevenscreek and all that and yes they are huge. Let me ask you this, if we asked for your help to organize a meet would you ? Because there is no meet if its left to one person.

the meet was cool, the drive felt long but for me was better than the meet just cause everyone was in there own little clicks and did there own thing...there were some haters which was hella ### but they bounced out early. i wasn't even going to make this meet but i figured how often do we get together! i had so many problems with my dsm that day and still went! it was pretty ### right when i got to the chevron gas station my coolant hose from the Tstat to the turbo busted i got coolant everywhere so i went to work on it right away in the parking lot...no one cared to help..what kind of community is this where we see a fellow dsmer struggling and no one asked to help...i didnt have any hose but i did have tools i stole some hose from my coolant over flow tank and it fit so i put that in place. engine bay was hotter than a mother! but had to do what i had to do. i was like 20min away from my house but i was determined to make the meet! evo x, nico and tre3zy showed up and stayed to give me a hand even after everyone else left! THANK YOU NICO and TRE3zy and EVO X I appreciate it! so blood sweat zip ties and super glue we were on our way! the drive was chill we had some complications but we all stopped and helped each other out and made sure everything was fine, we weren't going to go on without the other person or until we knew everything would be fine! when we got there we could tell it was unorganized but there was more than 5 cars so that was great! the food i personally didnt care about but hadn't ate all day i heard a rumor of bbq or pizza, but there was a convenient little bk right there so that was fine for us...hahaha i know tre3zy had some pizza! hahahaha with his pizza sauce stains!.. stayed for a bit people started cutting out so we left too we were there for a while tho, we drove back and hit traffic stupid red barn! but we hit up sonic so that made up for it! after that we just cruised up 101 and headed back home i think tre3zy drove the farthest but not sure, i give him props for coming out that far and solo! anyways sorry for the novel just thought id share my side of the story that day, the cars were nice at the meet by the way! i want a holset! lets get a meet in the middle so people complain less but if its salinas ill convince my girl again and well make it out! i did take a bunch of pics there uploading right now, as soon as thats done ill post!

Another thing I forgot about was foster's freeze here in milpitas. They have PT cruiser meets there every now and then, I am sure we can get the go ahead to chill there on a saturday or sunday. I actually know the guys at quality tune in the same parking lot as fosters freeze, I am sure they would be cool with us chilling there after they close (usually 5pm). But sonics in gilroy is cool with me. We can give it a shot thats for sure, say middle of next month? Give's me time to do some maintenance on my car.

The only iffy thing about gilroys sonic is that the exit is really close to a chp station. We can maybe do it there, but who knows if well get kicked out after a while or well have a *suprise* when we all leave the lot. I'm sure most of the 831 guys would be down for a milpitas meet too but girlroy is still not bad at all for everyone! We just have to make sure we don't do any dumb ish when we get off that exit ramp, and I'm sure well be fine! What time do you guys think will be the best to start this event? I'm just saying because some people work sunday morning and I'm sure they would love to attend but the only problem is that what if we begin too early??? Lol I'm just trying to make it fair for all of us and ofcourse get even more involved! 630 ok or 7? I like driving my Dsm mostly at night just because it attracts less attention, idk if you guys feel the same way too.

Yeah thats true! there is a lot of security and cops but im there like everyday...im cool with most of them...as long as no one does stupid stuff..they wont even bother, the most they will do is prop tell you to pick up ## trash... as for the meet ANYWHERE is fine wit me... im down for Salinas/milpitas/ gilroy meet, Dun matter…..i say 6 or 630ish would be a good time for the meet .
