I searched for this subject but everything I was able to find was in regard to rear wheels locking up.
I was going to get dinner a little while ago driving on some rural backroads running approximately 60 MPH. I heard a thud from the left from area. I had been hearing noises from this area as I hit bumps over the past few weeks and I just chalked it off as my sway bar bumping something. Apparently that was an incorrect assessment because as I hit my brakes I felt some severe pulsating. Similiar to warped rotors only MUCH MUCH more severe. As I finally stopped at an intersect I geared down to pull out when I noticed that the car was not wanting to move at all. The left front wheel was completely locked up. I was able to to get the car out of the interesection and pulled over in a parking lot. I put the car in reverse and it moved fine; however, I could not take it out of gear. I then turned the car off and went through the gears with the car not running. Everything appeared to be fine. I started the car again in neutral and attempted to put in first gear but it would not go into gear.
Once I got the car home on a flatbed I jacked up the front wheels and the drivers side front wheel will not turn forward but it will turn backwards although it is a bit noisey.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am just about to the point where I am going to part this car out. For whatever reason I cannot get it to be reliable it has been one problem after another. :barf:

Have you pulled the wheel off yet and inspected caliper? Jacked it up and inspected axle? Thats where I would start. If nothing is visible, and free turning, it must be in the tranny. Even though it goes in gear dead, doesn't mean the trans is ok. Think of a bad clutch; it goes in gear dead but not running...

I just got a chance to go out and look under the car. To my suprise one the bolts that attach the adapter flange for the bear kit had back out and this is what locked up the front wheel. I suppose red loctite would have been good there. (Please no flames).
Anyway, with that said the wheel rotates fine, the problem is that the car still will not go into gear with the car running. When I press the clutch it feels like it is moving the arm. Im thinking maybe broken/bent throwout bearing fork. Or could it be where that one wheel did not turn and the other three were turning it did something to the VC?
