Putting hids in the 2g eclipse. I hook up the passenger side, works fine. Hook up the driver side and nothing. So I swap the passenger side over to the driver side since I know it's working right and still nothing to the driver side. But both setups function in the passenger side. Regular halogen bulb works in the driver side. Driver side headlight is aftermarket and has thinner gauge wire. Any ideas on why? It's a good quality kit I've had in 3 different cars with no issues ever. Thanks

Ballasts and ignitors are good. Both sets work with the passenger side plug but neither work on the driver side plug but a halogen bulb works on drivers plug

Both bulbs work on both ballasts and ignitor setups but only on the passenger side. Nothing hid works in the drivers side. I tried flipping the wiring too in case it's backwards in the headlight since the driver side is an aftermarket didn't make a difference there either. Could that plug be wattage sensitive and not turning on the light because it's only sensing the 35 watt hid kit and not the 55 watt halogen?

You said the driver side headlight is aftermarket and has a smaller gauge wire. It may not be big enough to handle the current. Both setups work on the passenger side so their functionality can be ruled out. Normal headlights work on driver side so you know you're getting good power. I'm not familiar with the 2G, do the headlights always come on or do you have to turn them on like a 1G? I have a Passat W8 and they are known for having this same exact issue. It has day time running lights that are turned off when in park with the ebrake pulled. I have to pull the ebrake and a few times to get the passenger side light to come on. Try turning the light on and off a few times and see if that brings it on.

Check the ground I ran into a very similar issue on mine and it was a bad ground and it didn't have enough to ignite the hid but it could light the halogen
