What is the disadvantage in cutting the L of the drive side engine mount?

i will make working on the car so much easier and the other three mounts are solid rubber ones

Considering guys like Darryl Hudson has it cut I wouldn't think it would be too bad (I have mine cut by the way) I would suggest at least using the prothane/energy suspension mount inserts though...something to stiffen it up. John Shepherd also doesn't have the L but he's using solid mounts.

This is Hudson's car...he didn't cut it off but you'll notice it isn't connected...this is what made me determine my car pushing less then 350hp will be ok without it.

And here we see Joseph Bucci's car without it at all (although FWD mind you)...

Some people have gotten rid of it, and some people have not. I dont see why you would need to cut it off. Your still going to have to remove that mount to do any type of work on the belts.

umm if you use it as a daily driver i dont suggest it

So explain the difference between the 1g and 2g mount? And how the 2g mount isnt good enough then?

Cutting the "L" off wont affect sh!t. On a 1g with the motor mounts actually on the engine, it supports more than people think.

Now see this is something I have to disagree with. If there are 600+ racecars shooting down the 1/4 with it missing, then how would daily driving be effected. Look at how most motor mounts are on other cars as well, are there more then 2 mounting points for them? I'm not trying to say you're wrong but please explain why you think a car that is receiving such stress as a racecar would be able to do it while a street car could not.

Dont take what he says seriously... He is just posting random shit so he can get his 25 posts to view the classifieds. Its getting old.

On the other hand... There really isnt a disadvantage or advantage for cutting it off. The only thing I can see it helping is weight. Just my opinion.
