Tried to drain my oil but the plug seems to be stripped in the pan cause it just spin and spins and wont come out. I need to change my oil. s.o.b. dsm. What should i do.

You may need pressure to help push it out like from a screwdriver while turning it out.

No need for all that. Just go to auto parts store and buy an oversized drain plug. They are self tapping and should fix your problem. If it doesn't, time to locate another oil pan.

Those work good for cast aluminum pans, but not so much on our steel pans. You can try it but more than likely your going to be wasting your time and money.

Hit the drain plug with a hammer and then get some locking pliers to remove the bolt. Might destry the nut but should work.

This happened to me today! I tried the prying, dropping oil pan applying pressure with a screw driver and trying to turn it using the vice, tried the impact on it, and stuff not listed but still wont come out. Well i didnt pry it too much in fear of damaging the pan, so i left the drain plug in and ordered a new pan. Just want to know, how to stop the slow leak till i get my new one in???

Can the plug be tack-welded to the pan? Not the part that needs to come out, obviously, but the part that is supposed to be stationary. Surely a shop that has a welder won't mind doing that for free or almost free since it's such a quick job, provided a pan is cleaned before taking it there.

I think you are better off just replacing the oil pan, If you can do it yourself. Speaking from experience i had to deal with it multiple times until i replaced the dang thing

Yeah you can do that. My Galant stripped out the same way. Tried everything and the plug wouldn't come out. Removed the pan, held the plug with locking pliers, and drilled it out.
Pan threads were shot. Ground it off inside the pan and welded a threaded sleeve I had laying around that had the same threads inside the pan.
Thin metal though so pretty easy to burn a hole.

If you do weld in it make sure to get all the weld BB's out. I used a scotch brite and a bunch of cleaner.

Well i was reading around on the forum from some people and by the looks of it they either pried the bolt out with a pry bar or hammered it out using a screw driver and vice grips. If I can do this, I know the bolt would be destroyed, and I know to drain and clean the pan for metal shavings but would I be able to just put in a new bolt and keep rolling? I far as I read most people say they did Instead of buying a new pan.

Your creating metal shavings in your oil pan by doing that though... And thats sketchy, how you gonna clean it without removing? At which point you might as well replace.

I'm not sure what weld BB's are lance ;)

Ohhh mig welding spatter.... "Dingle balls" as we call them LOL

Well yea drop the pan in order to clean it out. But if i can save money destroying the bolt and just replacing that the bolt not the whole pan then thats a win-win situation. I rather pay like $3 for the bolt, than some like extremepsi quoted $200 bucks for a 7bolt dsm oil pan. And a dealership in europe for a bolt would probably run me 200 euro. Lol

Just go to NAPA , they have these rubber plugs that you can install instead of the bolt and then you turn the nut and it expands. Done. To remove it , use something like a metal clip remover and pry hard while impacting if off.

Ahhh i didn't see you were in europe.

I think i got my 6bolt oil pan for 80 bucks a year ago from extreme. But shipping and duty must not be your friend over there.

It's expensive as it is for me to get things into canada. I miss free shipping and no tax when i lived in washington state LOL

Yea it sucks, and the worst part is waiting a week in a half or more for parts. Rockauto is by far the fastest to europe and ships almost instantly. The problem with them are the high shipping cost.

Yea, i heard about that the other day. Some guy told me look up a site called drainvalve.com or something. But if NAPA has it then imma see if they can ship one over.
