Who knows of some great performing, solid material downpipes that are at least 3" w/flex section (which should be standard) that will not eliminate the cat. converter? I see many on line but they don't necessarily specify if whether or not they eliminate the cat.

Buschur racing has one that is 3" with a flex section that doesn't eliminate the cat, but you will have to buy a 3" high flow cat from them also.

If you are going to a 3" full system including a 3" cat get any of them and cut out a section to make room for the cat. Use band clamps.. Like the easy seal stainless on both ends of the cat joint.

Can some one explain the purpose of running a 3" downpipe to a 2" cat? Is there still a performance gain?

I think you should buy a downpipe to match the outlet of the turbo. For example, there is no sense in installing a 3" downpipe to match up to a T25. I am using a 16G, so I think the best design would be similar to that of the RRE DP (2.5" flared to 3"). I got a mad plug at a muffler shop so I don't really care about the fitment since I can just cut & weld everything...
