Just put on a 3" downpipe, the flex section sits right against the transfer case.

Is this ok? Will it over heat the transfer case?
Anyone else running like this?

Haha mines does the same thing. Its irritating because it causes nasty vibrations.
It happened when the evo 02 housing was put on. There are a few solutions,
changing the o2 housing, changing the downpipe for a different unit, or getting the downpipe somehow bent out off the t case.
What I have done so far is dampen the vibrations with some header wrap, wrapped around the down pipe and stuffed between the tcase and flex section.
It calmed the noise down but it is very stiff against the tcase. I wouldnt say heating should be much a problem, but more so weakening and or breaking exhaust manifold studs due to the flex section not being able to do its job of flexing

I may end up going to the exhaust shop and having maybe braces welded up to pull it away from the tcase and stuffing it with some more header wrap and maybe that will do the trick. Dont want to cut into the dp ir flange at all though.

Thanks guys.

I'll try wrapping the flex with header wrap, maybe put some fiberglass insulation in there for more cushion and heat isolation.

You could always get the Road Race Engineering downpipe that is designed for use with the Evo o2 housing.

RRE Race Down Pipes
Our DPs have a 2 1/2" stainless steel first bend with a 2 1/2" stainless steel flex section. They then expand to 3" right after the flex section right under the oil pan area.

The RRE downpipes are only 2 1/2". I'm going with a true 3" turbo-back

My problem is the 3" flex is more than 4" thick. I'm getting a vband welded on my downpipe and my O2 housing put on next week, hopefully the exhaust shop will be able to move the downpipe over some. There isn't much room on either side of the flex though.

Good set up...
Perhaps they may have to extend the down pipe by welding in there own piping before the first bend coming to the flex pipe so it will drop lower and just header wrap it up.
It will fit but yours probably will be sitting against the tcase or the bottom of the oil pan too.
