Just curious, I have two 4g63 eclipse my fwd doesn't make any unusual noises when I down shift sounds like any other car, but my awd has a weird sound when downshifting and the rpm start droping lower than 3 grand in first. Anyone ever heard of anything like this. I am not that worried because the car runs like a top just curious since I am new to the awd. Thanks .

theres always going to be more friction involved in the awd as far as running through the gears and flywheel, could just be that your not use to it

There are alot more parts involved in the drivetrain of an awd. You now not only have wining from the transmission, but now the xfercase driveshaft and rear differential. Normally there will be noise from the gears and bearings, especially in an older vehicle.

Thanks for the info just curious. I like to make sure everything is correct before I start playing with something. My plans really don't envole this drive train though. I plan to drop everything out and replace it with something completely different. I don't see any need in modifiying a perfectly good running gear.
