Door lock and ignition replace?

Can I replace my locks on the door and ignition? The reason is I lost m car keys in my neighborhood which is not pleasant at all and I'm afraid someone stealing my car so, I want to see how much will it be to replace all locks and ignition.

I believe I was quoted $2-400 from the dealership to have matching locks put in mine, not including the ignition. What identifying marks were on your key to make you think someone can find your car with it?

There's a thread on here on how to rekey your door locks. Not sure if it works the same on the ignition, but as long as you can lock the doors for now at least. It's pretty easy to do. You take the cylinder out and insert the new key and line the locks up with the new key.

The only problem with lining up the locks is you have to have the new pieces to swap out. Each one is slightly different in size. also talk to your dealer they should be able to just swap two of the tabs around and make a new key for it so your old keys would fit in the lock but not unlock it. We do it at at my shop for people all the time.

There used to be a whole lock cyl set that included everything, (ign, doors, hatch, glove box) but they quit making it (I was looking for it). They do make all the lock cyl separate, but they would all be differnet.

My is 1 out of 3 Mitsubishi on the block and keys says Mitsubishi.

Why not find a DSM with a key in it at a junk yard and buy all all three locks and the ignition from them, and swap them yourself? You could even get away with just buying the ignition switch and the locks as pocket parts if you're sneaky.

It's hard to find another DSM in my area. I been looking for an Eagle Talon 2G to buy or trade for I that's impossible.
