How hard would it be to do your own valve job if you had all the right tools. I was looking through a my shop manual, and it didn't look too difficult. I could be wrong though, thats why I'm asking for some input. I would just take it in to a machine shop but money is really tight right now and it would be cheaper for me to just buy new valves, guides, and seals and do the work myself.

Quite simple.. i did it to my sohc galant....

just buy valve spring pressuring tool, and some stuff to rub the valves and valve nests(?) good, all seals are easy to change...
only time taking thing is to take cylinder head off...
i wouldn't take it to any repairshop... it can be done for ya self..

If you're working on a Massey-Ferguson in Enid, there's not much to it. However, working on a DSM for street use, the valve seats -"nests", as you so quaintly refer to them- really need to be re-cut, not just ground. Same for the valve faces. They'll still need to be lapped, though, so you didn't waste your money on the grinding compound.
