doing a basic rebuild for my dsm

It would be a waist of money in my opnion! you should set some goals for you car in reguards to what you want to do proformance wise and buy acordingly. If your going to spend all that time and money on rebuilding you motor do it right the first time. even if it will cost more up front.. you'll most likely end up saveing in the long run when you figure in the cost of replaceing the cheap parts that fail prematurely. just my opnion

I would personally set goals and go from their. Do you just want a stock re-build, or re-freshening? Why do you want to rebuild your current motor?

Do you want more power later down the road where a built motor would be best?

And I would personally stay away from ebay pistons, and bearings. I would stick with OEM or aftermarket.

Just like ^^ they said, i don't know if this is your dd or not, but i say wait a little bit longer and start buying better stuff as you go along. that ebay stuff looks way cheap for everything. You can get a 6 bolt block for around $300. Get some stronger rods and stock 2g pistons and you will be all set for high hp down the road. This is the cheapest way to build a strong engine for my opinion.

I did some diggin on my owe as far as

Bay Motors: Mitsubishi 95-97 Eclipse Turbo 4G63 2L Rebuild Kit (item 130204181876 end time Apr-06-08 16:03:11 PDT)

Contacted them. They said these are a Cast pistons that are a 100% spec Replacement and doesn't requiring any rebalancing as they are close to OEM weight. They do Offer Forged Pistons at a low price but you have to Email them about info.

Also Ineresting was they offer Cryongentic treatment and a Flame spray Ceramic/Metal on top of piston.

I bought a kit when I was doing a rebuild a few years back. It was a Top Line kit from Mach V, and even then I decicded to go with factory bearings and FM piston rings. I would look for something a little better.:talon:
