OK so I looked around the search and couldn't find what I was looking for, so I'm down to this.

I'll start out with my current set up;
Mostly stock
94 GSX 6 bolt swap (I believe, flat side oil pan and all exhaust bolts same size)
17lbs waste-gate actuator (I keep it way under that)
MAF/can hacks
vacuum hose reduction
gutted cat
filter on valve cover port

Today I was over at a buddies house and when I opened my hood and checked my timing belt there was A LOT of oil on it (I know very BAD). I thought it might have been coming from a cam seal or maybe the oil pump. I pulled out the dip stick and there was barely any oil on it so I filled it back up, I had checked it 3 days before and it was fine. I checked the cams and not a drop was coming out. I sprayed some brake clean on the parts I could see under the car that were COVERED in oil, let it dry then started up the car for about 5 minutes to see if I could find a leak. All I could see was a few drops coming off the oil cooler area (1 drop every 10-15 secs or so).
What I am wondering is would it be my crank or oil pump seal??
The only thing I have really changed lately was I had taken off the little filter I had on my Valve cover and put on a silicone hose back to the intake (back to stock) then now I have oil all over the underside of my car and my timing belt.
When I bought the car I was told it had been rebuilt 4k miles ago and I have put 6k on it since then.
I have pretty much decided to reseal the whole motor. I plan on pulling the motor and giving it a good sealing and some cleaning/painting.

My question is just for a basic seal and clean what would be a good list of things to do while I'm in there and recommended brand would be awesome.

My list so far;
Engine Gasket Kit - brand???
Timing belt Kit - Gates
Timing Tensioner - Dorman
Intake and Exhaust Gaskets - local dealer

I'm trying to keep this on a pretty tight budget of under $500:sosad:
So anymore info would be helpful.
thanks.:confused:

The gates belt is over expensive. The OEM one is just as good. Go with OEM timing tensioner as well. The intake gasket get at autozone or any equivalent and the exhuast gasket get from a partout or a supporting vendor for cheap. As far as gaskets go, valve cover get autozone one. Headgasket get OEM. The timing gasket and front gasket from autozone I would say. This is what I have used or will use. ( I did timing job, and plan on putting new bottom end next month)

ChitownHussla, Gates actually makes cheaper OE replacement belts in addition to the commonly seen blue racing ones. I don't have experience, but Gates is a very reputable company, I wouldn't mind using their OE replacement timing belt on a mostly stock car.

Getting OEM parts will quickly eat up your budget. That being said, many have had success using Felpro and Cometic engine gasket kits. The thing I would get from the dealer, though, is the timing tensioner. Nobody has really found a replacement in terms of quality and durability for the OEM tensioner. The water pump is also something you might consider adding to your list.

Good luck. Glad you are trying to fix these things before you do any major modding.

I have check prices on most of the parts through rockauto.com and from what I can get through them seems like I can stay within my budget. I'll prob go through a dealer for atleast the head gasket and maybe the tensioner.
I also went by my mechanics today and he said he can do the timing kit and the seal, a 4.5 hour job, for $450. Now should I just go to him and have just the basics done or do it myself and get more done and do some other stuff while the engine is out.
