My tial which is currently dumped at engine compartment seems to leak at idle.Tial seemed to think it is not in the clamp right but pretty sure it is.

Is it normal for these to leak a bit at idle out the dump tube?

Did you install the metal spacer ring between the manifold and wastegate? A lot of people forget to install it.

I assume that is the ring that goes around the valve. That ring makes it much harder to get the v band on.Take that ring off and it goes in easy as pie. put the ring in the gate around the valve and its nightmare city .It would be easy if had it on the turbo when everything was out but played with springs so had to remove it and put it back.

buddy and I spent most of an hour getting it on and thought finally did as the clamp closed and it has to be over it all we thought as it also spun when clamped.

Can the valve seat be put in backward and still clamp up?

Without the ring it will leak boost and spool slow. You need that ring no matter how hard it is to get it clamped.

Understand need the ring its in there now but the thing is leaking. So can you put the ring in backward? Can't see how the clamp can tighten but yet the thing can't be in right? Its not easy to get to the gate with fans in there and engine in the car.Don't feel like taking the turbo and everything off to get to it but if have to may do it. I am hoping to get it leaving stuff in there.

If the ring can go in backwards mabye that is what I am doing wrong.whats so annoying is without the ring it fits perfect and easy. With it you are fighting with the thing to get it in there right it seems.
