Does this car have cams??

I'm working on a friends 96' gsx eclipse. The thing idles exactly like it has cams. I have done a boost leak test replaced various sensors. Everthing seems fine. The car holds 11"hg vaccum and lopes exactly my friends car on 264/272 set-up. He bought it, it had been de-modded. As of now it has 3"turbo-back, intercooler piping, greddy type-s and an intake. It had an AFC I went through and made sure the wiring was alright. The previous owner is not the most friendly person and we couldn't get a straight answer. I have the valve cover off. I'm staring at the cams. What kind of marking do after market cams have on them. I'll go out and get all the number off the cams i can..

Alright here are all the markings on the cams

Intake:

T-belt side it says G than 6 raised dots right beside it, opposite end of the cam it says 3.
opposite side it says 21 2, opposite end of cam it says F

Exhaust:

T-belt side has G than 4 raised dots beside it looks like "G::", opposite end it says 3,
opposite side it says 21 2, opposite end of cam it says F again.

To answer your question, yes the car has cams. Most cars do.

Something people commonly mistake the "cam" sound for is when the exhaust cam timing is one tooth off. I would check the timing and use the VFAQ to help you figure this out.

From your descriptions, I cannot discern whether or not it is an aftermarket camshaft or not. but that's just me... there may be someone else that will notice something.

Yah. I figured that could have been it. I have done about 6 T-belt jobs for other poeple. So i am going to give a look at the belt see if the exhaust cam skipped a tooth.

aahh...thanks MonkRX, I let that one slip. That really sucks that he's no help. Guess you'll just have to check that exhaust cam skipping the tooth. Otherwise, I have no clue without actually taking the cams out and checking...
