Does rocker and lifter order really matter?

I love Jafro's videos, but the first time around he mentions that when pulling the lifters and roller rockers to keep everything in order in this video at about 7:54

Yet here, he throws the roller rockers into a can all together at about :32

I have kept everything in order that I removed, but if I can throw it all in a can, I'd be just as happy.

If I must keep my parts in order, can I soak my parts in gasoline in ice cube trays, or might gasoline eat through the tray?

If I must keep my parts in order, I'd rather keep the parts in the tray to keep order and just pour the gasoline on top of them to let them soak individually within the tray.

I know that there is a VFAQ procedure for the lifters, but I am just asking in general.

Thanks

If they've never been installed, it doesn't matter. But if you're reusing old ones, it is best to keep them in the same order due to each individual wear pattern with the cams and each pieces movement with the next.

Alright thanks. Well since they are in order already I'll just leave them that way. I doubt that gasoline will eat through ice-cube trays in 24 hours. You just never know though. :aha:

You can mix up the followers and HLAs, no issues with that.

Clean and bleed down the HLAs then install.

The followers do not mate to the cams like old school domestic cams and lifters do.

Cams, followers and HLAs have been swapped around for years, from head to head and mixed with parts from other heads.

The parts that have to go back in order, on the proper side and in the proper facing are the cam caps.
