Does anyone with a fairly modded car actually have A/C?

Just curious, it seems like no modded cars are available with a/c. Call me a wuss, but if it's my dd, I'd prefer a/c. I know some of you have to be in some hot states. Why no a/c? Do you all enjoy sweaty backs and pittin out anytime you go somewhere? Is the 1/10 of a second in the 1/4 mile really worth it when 99% of the time you're actually driving on the road?

Personally i dont like using AC in general, prefer to roll down the windows instead. Right now my car is gutted of almost everything i dont need in a drag car.. no AC, heat, PS, cruise control, air bags, sound deadning, rear seats, interior panels from behind the front seats back and all the lines and hoses. no ac or heater cores or blower motor. Removing all the lines and everything for the AC cleaned up the engine bay a great deal. I daily drive a 2006 Tacoma and the AC works perfectly but i don't like using it.

Problem is you still really need that compressor to pull moisture out of the air. My A/C doesn't work right now, and even with the heat the windows fog a bit.

OK so A/C weighs what - 60lbs? In the aviation world they say the best place to lose weight in in the pilot seat!

I run a keydiver chip, I can run A/C at the drag strip and when my car hits 5k the chip cuts the out the A/C so the only loss of power is the 60 lbs and belt drag on a free wheeling clutch. Considering I live in the South - think I'll keep my A/C.

I know I dont have my DSM anymore but my mustang isn't near stock at all but I dont have a/c in any of my cars. Its not bad unless your stuck in traffic.

I would consider myself medium modified (check profile).

It seems the DSM is in a handful of factory turbocharged cars where the A/C really doesn't get in the way.

The Only problem I'd ever forsee someone to yank it would be because of the A/C Fan itself and you can work around that.

No A/C here.

1. Didn't work when I put the car together.
2. Don't need the A/C fan anymore.
3. Got rid of the A/C fan relay box.
4. Saved a few pounds.
5. Car doesn't have any cooling problems.
6. I can now relocate my alternator.

But I really only suffer from halfway through July til halfway through August. It's not the heat that I don't like here it's the humidity. 90* @ 80% humidity sucks balls, instant sweat. But 90* @ 30% humidity is .

Current temperature is 76* @ 58% humidity! Woot!! I can live with that!! No A/C needed.

Back when I had A/C, I never used it. I'd always rather have the windows down.
I only ever used it on long trips when the woman didn't want the wind to mess her hair up.

I've since removed it. It also aids greatly to not have the system there when pulling the engine out (which seams to be once or twice every year).

I removed mine when I pulled the engine. Just makes things way easier not working around it and trying to save it.

I had a/c, p/s, cruise when I made 705awhp and ran 9.89@146 full weight and interior. Drove it on the weekends for 200-300 miles.

I still have a/c with the R12 in it. It's a weekend car but still nice to have during a heat wave, thats the only time I use it.
