ummm what intake manifold are you talking about? Their is more than one you know and im sure if you searched you would find plenty of opinions and other useful information. The stock intake manifold is def good for 500+ hp so IMHO its almost a waste of money if your under around 500hp.

I run an RVR intake manifold. It's an Evo3 intake with a 52mm TB opening. I lost no bottom-end; but gained plenty of top-end with my Evo316g. If you can find one, I recommend it.

Wow, where did you get this gem of knowledge from? It's not all about horsepower. That's such an irritating mentality.

the one i got is supposed to be made from a shop here in fl. they really gacve me no imput on it except that. the only thing is that i have to utilize a t.b. spacer, it is huge like i said dont know to much about it

aftermarket = something like jm fab intake or magnus intake manifold. is the evo intake manifold considered aftermarket because I dont think it is since they DO come on the 4g63 from the factory. If your under 500hp a AFTERMARKET manifold such as the magnus or whatever is a waste of money IN MY OPINION. Why blow $500+ on one when you dont really need it.

People with 16Gs have seen gains in swapping out the stock IM, and most 16g setups aren't even at 400hp.

When did I say they wouldnt make more hp or gains??? I DIDNT!

From reading, you should try it sometime. When did I say it was all about hp?? I was simply stating that he doesnt need an aftermarket intake manifold for the power he is making. Dont be mad at me because your only making 280whp.

You're wrong. The stock manifold may have made 500whp, but how efficiently?

Thank you for correcting him.

No matter what manifold you pick (Magnus, JMF, etc) it will produce gains. Each manufacturer produces a different manifold for a different application. You will have to decide what type of manifold fits your needs.

I've seen a few 16G cars at dyno days with aftermarket intake manifolds, and all it looked to do was kill the torque. If you get rid of the torque on a 16G, what do you have? Nothing.

Unless you're pushing your setup and already have 'everything else', I'd get the other stuff before an intake. Is your profile current with everything? Do you really have nothing to tune with? I'd get something to tune with far before even looking at a different intake (or turbo).

OP has a fwd, I think he can afford to lose some torque for some high-end hp. And he said he already has the IM, so why not put it on and try it?

Stop being a tool.

As long as it's capable of passing emmisions (if you have it) and isn't leaking, I'd say put it on. Most usually are an upgrade unless it's a complete crap build. Do you have a brand and pictures for us to see it?

I will admit to the Evo3/RVR manifold being a good choice. If you port the RVR manifold to 60mm (easy to do) it's the same as the Evo3 manifold minus a vacuum port.

Over anything else though, I would make sure everything else on the car is fine before worrying about increase airflow to the head.

Not my point. I can read. What you said was for him not to change it because he's under a certain horsepower. Your point was based off of, "horsepower". What I am trying to say is there's a huge difference with intake manifolds as far as power-bands, mid-range and top-end power. I'm well under 500hp. But I gained a ton of mid and top-end power with my Evo3 intake manifold. 1st and 2nd gear I go to 8k, and 7.5k 3rd and 4th. See my point? Should I slow down for you? And those dyno numbers are 4 years old, pal. Also, my power used to fall after 6.8k.

See? I clearly gained nothing because I'm under 500hp. You really don't know what you're talking about. Wait! One more! If you're not "all about horsepower" in this thread, why are you commenting on mine? You're a fail-ass noob. Step out the door and stop degrading this site with your "knowledge".

Sit this one out; you have nothing to say or add of any value.

What are you goals and roughly what is the set up thats going to be on the car? Any aftermarket intake mani is a upgrade from stock but depending on your set up a stock intake mani might go farther than you think. As far as cams a nice set of 272's will most likely do you just fine.

So just a quick question (dont mean to high jack). Lets say someone is only going to 300-350hp. Would a new intake be a waste of time?

Yes since the stock intake will get you to said goal. Only get a new one if the current one is bad and even getting an aftermarket one for those numbers would IMHO be a poor choice of spent money.

I'm hi-jacking this... Again.

When I picked up my car the previous owner gave me an aftermarket intake mani with it. It doesn't have any brand name on it but appears to be very well built (perfect welds, tapered plenum, velocity stacks, etc) I have no dyno numbers but I would put myself around 300-350.

Should I bolt it on?

-1. I agree with the so called 'tool'.

1st he needs something good to tune with. After tuning and fuel mods, cams would be the next logical step. Why the heck would anyone even suggest an intake being a decent mod looking at his profile?

Well, yeah, that's true. But he wanted to know about intake manifolds. No need to not give him some advice about them because he's not ready for one yet. Should I have not done one because I am still on a 16g? Because an FP3052 would more than make up for the top-end. But to say it's a waste of money based off of horsepower is retarded and you know it.
