Hello all, I just recently put on an external wastegate set at 25 lbs and decided to do the Dodge Garage Mod to my 1g bov. It isnt working like it should; the valve starts to flutter around 18 psi and continues fluttering up to 25 psi. Im a little upset because this mod was supposed to hold 30ish pounds (according to the DDG webpage). I also dont want to mess anything up because of the fluttering, plus it sounds VERY bad.

Is there something else that could be done that can hold a solid 25 lbs?? Or should I just buy a forge motorsports 1g bov???

(Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I couldnt find this exact problem)

hm...mine hold 20 psi no problems, and could hold more if i gave it more. Is yours done right, or hooked up right? Maybe there is something else involved being overlooked

Everything to my knowledge is done correctly. I drilled the side of the flange and put a set screw in the bottom port.

It IS holding 25 psi no problem, its just fluttering really bad.

Does anybody else have any input here? Its frustrating me because I want to go WOT but dont want it fluttering....

OK, I bought another bov thinking that is what was causing the fluttering. Apparently its not.... Still flutters with my new bov. So I decided to take out my 25 pound tial wastegate springs and put back in the 14 pound springs along with an mbc set to 25 thinking that was the issue, again, apparently not.

My damn boost is STILL fluttering and is really f*cking annoying. Can somebody please help me figure this out.

Also, I have no boost leaks (tested it up to 30lbs)

The fluttering could be the BOV not opening soon enough and causing compressor surge. Plug compressor surge into youtube and see if this is what you hear. If so, it is very bad. It is cased when the throttle plate shuts and causes the incoming air to bounce off the plate and travel back towards the compressor. If the BOV does not react to release the pressure, the air will hit the compressor wheel and make a fluttering noise.
What are you using to tune???

This.. Im betting you its compressor surge..

I just looked at your profile and noticed that you are using link to tune. This is why I asked. usenitrouscontrolsfordejontoolbovmod [ECMTuning - wiki]

You can use the FPS to operate the modded BOV via nitrous controls to be fast reacting (eliminate flutter) under certain conditions and eliminate pressure going to the bottom port (blowing open causing a leak) in other conditions. I have done this and hold 30 psi with no leaks from blowing open. By the way this uses the FPS which is free if you are not using it. If you are find one in a junkyard for a buck or two and it should eliminate your problem.

^^^ THIS ^^^^

I have mine setup this way, and have no problems boosting over 30psi.

Thanks for the replies, however, the fluttering was happening while IN boost. I actually ended up figuring out what it was. My mbc was causing the fluttering, crappy turbo xs.... took it out and ran a line straight to the wg. I now hold a rock solid 20 lbs of boost with a 14 pound spring installed in my external wg. Bov was swapped out for a forge bov with a 25lb spring.

Thanks again for the replies.
