So can anyone tell me how much water there should be? I think the problem with the head gasket is b/c there wasn't enough water covering the pistson? Help pls

I'M KIDDING HAHA! Ok Ok, does anyone sell 2g pistons already machined to 1g rods? I thought Buschur did but I can't find em, if not, anyone have any 1g rods for sale? Do you have to yank the bottom end to get out the rods etc if I only got 2g pistons to get em all attached, and I'm sure that involves yanking the tranny etc right...? The trailing edge of all the pistons looks melted, my friend said b/c the water in there due to head gasket? Is this accurate?

Dont think anyone sells 2g pistons on 1g rods. I am about to do the same thing, only not cuz of a blown HG. You CAN do it without pulling the motor and tranny. Just take off the xfer case and oil pan, unbolt the rods from the crank and push them up through the top. Only problem is you are skipping having the crank turned which is vital for new rod bearings if you have high mileage.

What do you mean the trailing edges are melted?

I got some Weisco 8.5:1 for 350 with rings. You dont have to drop the tranny if you only so the rods and pistons. All you need to do is drop the oil pan to disconnect the rods from the crank and pull them out the top. Since you have your rods out, you want to get the crank polished; you can with some really fine sandpaper or you can get it done for like 40 bucks by a machinist. And since the rod and pistons are out, you may want to hone the cylinders, too. That way you basically have a brand new engine when you put it back together.

If you have anymore questions or want some tips from my experience, my e-mail is [email protected].

far side of the pistons, they're all corroded down or melted down, all weird, friend said it could be due to detonation/water damange..?
