So i'm looking into either buying a AEM standalone or go ahead and buy a eprom ecu and get the DSM link. but i need to still have the car go through inspection. the old owner had put a tactrix link which i have no idea how to use. Can anyone give me advice on which direction to go.

DSMLink is by far the furthest thing from wasting money, i dont know wtf your talking about.

Also ceddy i think is garbage, and flashing the ecu ( which ive attempted before is not as user friendly or as easy to tune or have the options that dsmlink has ).

Then you obviously know nothing about really tuning a car. Mine was very easy to setup, flashed the proper rom onto the car and started adjusting away. Flashable ECU's have SOOOOOOOOOO many more features than DSMLink. You keep pay $175 for each version and I'll pay nothing for having all of those features and more. DSMLink MAY be easier, but it isn't near as good as a stock bigmap. WAY more ability to do fine tuning.

holy sweettastic..........i got 2 99cars..........the hell with all those standalones and link......LOVE DSMs and the following

Link is great, in the way that mac, and windows is great, end user ease of use. I on the other hand, am more of a diy'er, know how, over $. This is one of the things that draws me to the dsm community, the spirit of inovation with limited means, pushing the limits, on a budget. The dsm, and evo communities, are known for tuning better with stock ecu's, and know how, than any other platform. If you can count from 0 to f, you can tune the crap out of a dsm, for next to nothing.

might not be just for the city....from your avatar you wont have that problem since you are a 95 and lower car...........OBD2 and newer cars

sorry for taking so late to respond to you guys, had a lot going on. The guy at the inspection station just told me that he can't get into the OBD system meaning whatever the guy did before me had locked it or something. So when he tried hooking it up it failed because it couldn't read the OBD system (this is what i'm assuming) and I don't have a 2.0 openport cable and i haven't purchased one since i was unsure what to do about this situation. And as i stated earlier i do not know anything about tactrix or how it works.
