My engine went bad because the oil pump blew and everything seized up in the block. So I know I have to rebuild the block for sure, but what about the head?

Just check it out. Damaged in it then you shouldn't have to. However it is a good idea if you did anyways.

if your oil pump went out and you seized your block, there is a very good chance that there was damage done to the head. As rlacasse1 said, check for damage but the fact that the head was probably oil starved, it would probably be best to go through it or have someone else go through and sheck out the entire head. You wouldn't want to rebuild only to have your head go out on you.

pull the cam caps from the head and look for scoring and gaullding marks... that will decide if the head is good or not.

at the least have the head cleaned and pull the cams, HLAs and oil galley plugs so all traces of metal flake is gone.
