If its not that much, why dont you have one? As a normal, non sposored, non race professional, I consider $600 a fair amount. Now, if you spend $100k+ a year racing, then $600 isnt much. And imagine that warranty on the $2600 piece. What, 3 mile or 3 minutes, whichever comes first?

Because I don't need one a DNP manifold. When I feel the need to get a tubular manifold I will make my own out of Inconel 625. Regardless if $600 is alot to you or me, I was just stating the fact that $600 for a quality exhaust turbo manifold is not that much. Like it or not you have to pay to play.

Mmmm, inconel....but then they'd just complain that the welds weren't pretty.

Well "they" can complain all they want. I'll will make it myself for myself so what others think really doesn't matter. Plus with lots of practice you can make some pretty nice welds on inconel. It's not an easy material to weld and make look nice but it can be done.

Who has bends besides Jack Burns?
I wasn't too impressed with 304 on my wastegate/O2 eliminator.

The guy I work for (part-time) has some for race cars. I'm not sure were he gets them from. I know the last ones he received were from the guy who owned the car we were rebuilding. I did see Burns only list 18-22 ga. on there website. I do know these were 10 ga. tubing. 18-22 ga seems really thin to make a turbo manifold. IMO you would need some type of support for the turbo.

I try to remember to ask him where he gets them from most of the time. It will be awhile because he is gone right now to a race. I've never bought anything from Burns before so I can't say what there quality is like. If you do a search on the Thomas Register for Inconel, it should give you a list of companies who sell it. Some will also offer bending tube for you. Or you could find a local place that will do it for you.

No wheel hop - I have prothane mounts and I drive around on BFG drag radials. Anyways, I just got this in my email:

Hello,

Our warranty for the manifold lasts for 1 year. In order to get a
replacement it is required that you return the manifold with the original
invoice. Since its been over a year since you've purchased the manifold we
can offer you an extended warranty which includes a brand new manifold and
a 1 year warranty for a fee of $250.00. If you are interested please
contact us.

Thank you,

NOT very happy. Maybe i'll ditch the DNP and buy a SBR manifold. :toobad:

I didn't read any posts after this one so excuse me if someone else already suggested this. If it is in fact just cracked at the weld have it rewelded and this time use some kind of brace. It will be much cheaper than $250.

Its not any different than having a warranty on a new car, If something breaks on the car ,after the warranty is over with , should the dealship should just fix the car because you paid this amount for it...umm NO, So send it back this winter, and be done with it....Im sure thier will be other people crying about it......GOOD LUCK

A one-yer warrenty is rediculas. For a part that does nothing but sit on the head it should be a lot longer then that. There are no mechanical parts, it doesn't require "maintance" or lubricateing, it doesn't need to be cleaned and there are no electronic or delicate peices and you can't really install it wrong or mis-use the product either. Why the warrenty on this manifold isen't 5 years or lifetime I don't know. It probably costs them 100 bucks in material and labour to produce that manifold at MOST. The cost comes from the R&D to design the manifold. They don't have to re-design it if it breaks. :nono:

Glad they are replacing it even out of warranty. Considering it was a manufacturing defect and there replacing it for no charge says good things about DNP and there service. They could of easily said oh well the warranty is up so either pay 250 or fix it yourself. :D

This is a completely ridiculous post. Your DNP cracked. Pull it, get it re-welded. Brace it, call it a learning experience, and get over it. Life sucks, things break, you fix them, something else breaks... it's a cycle. Life goes on. :notgood:

If the car is slightly out of warranty and it splits in half, I'm sure the dealership would take care of it.

Actually there is a lot of stress on a header. This is a fact that did not escape the factory-cast manifold. If the original poster were up to speed and had mounted the header correctly, there would probably not be an issue but the combination of allowing the turbo to hang from the header, the stresses from thermal cycling and relative lack of hot strength lead to the crack.
Not to be unduly rude but every point your tried to make is completely wrong and you're terribly misinformed.

The whole ramblings on in this post is so friggin ### and should have been locked ages ago.

It's like hiring a hooker and doing her with no rubber, then expecting her to pay your doctor bills when the big bumps appear on your junk. Get a clue. :notgood:

Who said there wasen't any stress on the header? Please read the post before you reply.

No one purchases this manifold with the intention of hanging a 14b from it with a stock DP. If the welds are not strong enough to support the natural use of this product, and it requires a more indepth installation then this should be noted on the web-site or in the instructions, if any are provided. :thumb:

While it may be a natual inclination for some of us to use extra braceing, it may not be for some. One might think when paying that price for the manifold it included all the necessary parts for the it to function properly.

Just found that my DNP was cracked in 3 places, only 2 months old. Thney replaced it within 2 days. I do have a heavy Holset comp housing and heavy bullseye housing so that is a factor. New one has a bit beefier collector welding. Mark

Looks like your Dump Tube is the cause. Its a Hard pipe. Look down near the Intercooler piping. Your engine moves, so that hardpipe dump tube pushes against the intercooler piping causing manifold to break... Bring it to shop and get it welded...
