What's up guys. Coming to the end of my parts list and the last part i need to complete my motor other than a crank (pm me if you have a stock/unturned 6 bolt crank please :) is a set of cams. I've looked and looked. I was looking at the bc 280's. they're pretty cheap, have a well known name. But seen many people say not to waste my money. So i looked at kelford's 272 cams. Heard great things, but i really don't want to spend more than $400 on cams, being that im broke =/. I found "dks" cams, and need to know what everyones thoughts are on them. Supposedly spec to hks cams, well made, and rather cheap. However, are they too cheap? Im not looking for the ultimate set of cams, just a nice set that will make decent power without taking a huge chunk from my wallet. My goals are around 5-600hp. all opinions and facts greatly appreciated! thanks guys!

Due to seller not being very polite, i decided on keeping my money and ordering the delta k's and some beehives. I've learned so much from this post already LOL

Just to hop in, I am planning on the 272 DKS cams, it says that upgraded valvetrain is recomeneded, but you can still use stock set up. I dont plan on blasting my motor above 7k (redline) everywere I go, So should stock valve train be efficiant enough to run them for DD and maybe push a little at the dragstip every so often?

Your price is a big outdated, they are $329 now and that is for a set not each.

$329 was for the Red Stripe that they no longer sell.

so buy them straight from delta then? And what about valvetrain? what would be recomended on a low budget, it said you dont need it, but recomended.

I run the DKS1 cams with Manley springs and have been very happy with them.
Darren has a pretty good reputation and I don't think he would sell any products
that he wouldn't use himself.

Greg

Yea I have stock springs, valves ect, im wondering what springs would be my best bet with DKS (delta) 272 cams to make around 400hp

With everyone getting these clones, no one will do R&D make cams for our Dsm anymore. :(
Like HKS they all are gonna disappeared. Has anyone ever thought of that?

Clones are cheat and all but my next cam is going to come straight from Kelford, GSC, or others.
I wanna support these guys for supporting DSM's

If they really wanted to they would lower there prices then. A lot of what you are paying for is brand name, if these companys can make exact replicas of high end cams for half the price then why cant the brand name itself?

I would personally save up and get gsc s2 way better then anything I have ever seen yes I am talking way better then those "fancy" hks cams. The reason I say this is because When I had regrinds it would cause this tapping noise and eventually have to input more shims multiple times becuase well they where regrind cams. Now I am not saying there are not bad I have been running regrind for a long time as alot of people, but in the long wrong you might as well buy a good set of them or you might as well just stay stock and save yourself some money.

I've got the HKS 272 regrinds from Delta and I like them a lot. They make good power up top. They ran me $240ish shipped, I am goin to swap them out for their K272 grind on new billet cores from Delta for this season. My both of my roommates run Delta cams in their cars and they both make good power.

I'm going with the DKS ones. The hks is discontinued anyways. I have upgraded springs and retainers. Even on a light cam I suggest getting them.

Never hurts to upgrade your head even for saftey of thought.Just hated dealing with shims on regrind cams.
