First off I want to say thanks for the wealth of knowledge i got from you guys in these forums, but onto my questions.

I wanted to make my own UICP so i took a look at my engine bay and began to wonder. If i were to buy a stock UICP that i see all over the classifieds, would i be able to cut my plastic UICP before BOV and attach a stock UICP in the same place where most aftermarket UICP's go. I understand its still a rubber/cloth pipe but would their be a difference seeing as how i am eliminiting that bottleneck? any info would be great.

Secondly i am lookin for a 14b for my 2g and i see all these ads with 6cm housings and everything like that i would like a little more info as to what that is ? Am i correct in understanding its simply like a ported turbo helping with spoolup and decreasing boost creep ? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks alot :talon: :thumb:

To be honest a lot of guys on here will say an UICP isn't going to benefit you that much. I like your idea of making one though because if your going to spend the money to buy one you might as well just save up a little more and get a FMIC with short route piping. Not exactly sure what you are trying to do but anytime you can get rid of a severe bend in the intercooler piping it's always a plus. What you are talking about doing won't be of any help at all probably. Only way you are going to see a gain is with short route or bigger mandrel bent piping. So in answer to your question you won't see any noticeable difference from it. But if you feel compelled to try it here is a write up..

In answer to your question about the 14b they are talking about the inlet size where the manifold bolts to the turbo. You can port it to 7cm and get a 7cm gasket for it. Pretty common upgrade for 2g's. They even make a install kit for it anymore. It's basically to help with spoolup. To help on boost creep you can port your O2 housing, or get an external dump or do the 34mm flapper mod I believe it's called but that is on 16g's. Also getting an exhaust that has no restriction will do it too.

well basically what i am thinkin of is instead of paying for an aftermarket UICP (that requires you to cut your stock platic UICP just before the BOV) would i be able to still cut the pipe where required and instead of purchasing a pipe just buy a used Cloth UICP and connect it from my IC to just before the BOV, It even seems like it would fit well. Looks like a cheap $10 alternative to the $100 uicps

If you plan on doing anything you need to replace the 2g BOV. You leak at 12psi. Leaking air doesn't help you at all.

You could do that but you won't really see and gain from it. And with buying an aftermarket such as Dejon Tool or something you SHOULD get the whole pipe, throttle body to the top of the intercooler. It will be flanged for a 1g or Greddy BOV but if you are going to be doing ANY sort of modding you will want to ditch the 2g plastic BOV. If you really wanna upgrade your stock piping it would be more worth you time to just get an aftermarket UICP and a 1g BOV.

Speed it up!! I've beaten ya twice! :p :D

Sorry i didnt specify that i already have a 1g bov. My list of mods are
- Autometer Phantom boost gauge and A/F gauge
- Free mods(BCS removal) + removed lower IC silincer
- 1g BOV
- MAF adapter and Cone style filter
- MBC @ 15psi
- Clutchmasters Clutch 2100lb pressure plate, sprung 6 puck disc

So am i correct in understanding that i wont truly see any gains from a UICP unless its a hardpipe and 2.5in Diameter. I was under the impression that removing that "kink" was a big reason why UICP's are sold especially the half sized ones.

You won't see gains with a T-25. Once you upgrade your turbo, upgrade the piping. Otherwise it's really not doing a whole bunch of damage. T-25 can't support our addiction.

Haha absolutly, i am currently lookin for a nice 14b i can clean up and port out to run.
What do you guys think of this plan,
- 14b nicely ported out
- new UICP
- 2.5 exhaust
- rewired fuel pump
*logger after all this, keep in mind keepin the 14b boost low until i get it.

I used to have a 95 GST, hence my name...And I completely upgraded from stock to full UICP and LICP and besides improving the sound of the turbo a little it MAYBE got my 5hp at most. I really could noticed to much of a difference. Your right though that bend is pretty restrictive but until you are running a bigger turbo and it is really holding up air it won't be enough to make a big difference. But for a cheap mod go for it.

15-17 psi will be fine.

New pump/injectors/afc and you can crank it more.

I'd go with the 16, or an 18. Plently of room to grow with in the future. Reliable turbos...
Yes on the UICP
Yes on the exhaust, turbo back, not just cat.
Yes on the rewire
Yes on the logger with a big + at the end.

Even with my Big16g I'm still breaking into the mid-high 12's with a fair amount of tuning and supporting mods. I would go with a 16g of sorts. Good street turbo at low boost and fun at high boost. I've been able to take a lot of 50 trim's and even a 60-1 that don't have any tuning. Tuning is what makes the car, reliable and fast. 2.5" exhaust is a great idea. Keeps some restriction and helps with boost creep. I ran my stock fuel pump rewired with 550's and it was good for some pretty high psi on my 16g. Started running learn as time went on though. Logger is always a must. Great tuning tool because it helps with reading o2 sensors and knock and such. Sounds like a good solid plan.
