Well as some of you know my TSI has been acting like a rear wheel drive. I removed the transmission last night. does anyone know of a DIY link for a complete teardown of all the components for a rebuild. we belive it must be a center or front differential. There are no metal shavings or chuncks of broken gears as far as we can see. I tore one of these about 5 years ago and sad to say it eneded up in boxes.

I know where the insrtructions are, but I haven't the foggiest idea what year your car is, or if you ar auto or manual.

Oh well. Here's the main index. Thank LilEvo: Index of /mirage

Do you still have the transmission in a box? If you don't want it, I'll put it together.

I have succesfully rebuilt my awd tranny with this link and have had no problems to this day, just make sure you have a press if not, you gatta take your gearsets to a machine shop. It can be done fairly easily if you have a good knowledge of how tranny's work, patience and focus. :)

Thanks alot guys. Im sorry about the information. I was in a hurry eaten breakfast and typing. buts its a 92 tsi. Im still trying to figure out what year the trans came from. I know the power plant was replaced..as for the old transmission in a box I let it go when I sold my last DSM. Kick in the butt for that one.live and learn, live and learn..:ohdamn:

okay I tore the transmission apart and I found the side gears on the center diff sheard off. Im assuming this vehilce was towed like a 2wd. would driving an AWD vehicle with the center diff not wrking at all fry the VC?:hmm:

It depends....both of the Center Diff's from both my present tranny and spare tranny were both bad, but they were Locked Up. If your diff fried and locked up like mine you probly wont notice until you make a hard turn or launch, then after awhile it will get chewed up and destroy the rest of your tranny. If the spiders disinigrated to nothing and the center diff just spun all the time I couldnt tell you what would happen, I assume yes, it would damage the VC connecting to your center diff then, the rest or your tranny. Check out TRE's website hes got a couple options concerning the center diff including-rebuilt with 4 center spiders, solid center dif, welded center diff, shot-peening, etc. etc. Good Luck! Post pics!!

Mine sheard the gears so it was just free spining . no tracktion to the front just the rears. it was cool being able to drift around corners. Im weigh my options on just welding the center diff..I need to resize my pics to post
