Okay this has really been pissing me off as of lately. For starters, I hate car alarms, they don't work, and they just are really annoying.

After I installed my boost controller my alarm has been going off randomly with nothing happening. The only thing I did was tap the turbo timer harness for power, and grounded to the body. Everything works great, but sometimes when I get off late at night from work and come home at 2am, I shut the door and the alarm arms. Walk inside and sit in my chair, 5-10 minutes later, off goes my alarm. Now I know it's not somebody ####ing with my car, because we have one of those automatic lights outside my car, and it will turn on if somebody walks near it (or the sidewalk behind it). This is beginning to get really annoying..SO my question is, is there a fuse I can pull or something to de-activate the alarm permantely? I'd appreciate it if anybody could let me in on what to do.

i don't exactly know the way to fully disable the factory alarm. But to save you that 5-10 min of waiting in annoyance, you can simply stick your key into your door keyhole, unlock it, and your alarm will go off.

i had mine go off for no reason one night when some bum or whoever decided to steal my car, probably by sticking a flat head screw driver into my door keyhole and triggering the alarm. for about 2 days, i had my alarm go off, and my whole neighbor was watching me.

it has never gone off since. i assume you guys are talking about the alarm that horns (not sirens), if not, this post doesn't relate to your question.

after searching, searching, and searching, it seems as though it IS NOT POSSIBLE to disable the factory alarm. It is hardwired into the ecu or something like that. Everyone who has an aftermarket alarm also has the factory alarm fully functional as well, though never in use.

One last ditch effort would be to call satan and ask if they would be able to do it for you. No need to ask how much it will cost unless you really want them to do it. The point in asking satan is if they say they can do it, then that means we can too; we just have to find out how.

Ive tried following the vfaq directions aon wiring an alarm. I figured that if you coul find the wire that arms the alarm and cut it the alarm wouldnt arm and it couldnt go off. The thing is the wire that vfaq has labeled as the factory alarm is in the driver kick panel. When I looked for it I found like 3-4 wires that fit that description. Not wanting to cut the wrong one and cause the factory alarm to go off I figured I would leave it alone until I found more details on where the exact wire is.

I was looking in the factory Mitsu manual and found that there is four relays under the dash behind the steering wheel. One of them is for the alarm. I am going to try and pull it out and see if it kills the alarm for good. I will post back with results.

Well always pisses me off, some times it goes off and sometimes it doesnt... My car has an aftermarket alarm and i guess it also has a factory alarm connected to the horn, I have a remote for the aftermarket and the factory one needs the key to turn in the door. My cousin told me the factory one is not activated unles you lock the doors with the powerlock door button inside the car... so i stopped doin that and jus use the alarm instead... but now id say 1 outta 4 times i go to my car it goes off and it causes a bit of a scene... Like ill get out of school walk to may car, shut of the aftermarket alarm(you hear the BEEP BEEP from the siren) then as i open the door... (HONK HONK HONK HONK!!) does anyone know what im talkin about? anyone know how to disconnect it? the guy I bought the car from said it wasnt possible to disconnect it... but if it was connected there has to be a way to disconnect it... why would they make keyless entries but u still have to turn the key... jus not k0ol... thanks guys hope you can help me...

How do you lock the car with the power door lock button in the car? As far as I know, it won't lock with the door open. Anyway, check the hood switch on the left front corner under the hood. It may be bent down and not making contact with the hood. Also, check your door switches.

hey
i've installed an aftermarket car alarm/remote starter in my car.

first of all, trust me.. you can't remove the factory alarm. nobody can find it, so it's probably integrated into the ECU. at least, this is what i found when i researched for myself..

and what you're saying about the key isn't quite accurate.. there is a sensor that tells whether or not the doors are locked (which will change status when you turn the key in the lock, for example)... but there is a wire from the aftermarket alarm which will disable the factory alarm by sending the proper signal (ground) to the factory alarm disable.. i think it's that same wire. i can't quite remember offhand. my guess is that this connection between the new alarm and the factory alarm disable wire sucks.

and yes, it will be as much of a pain in the ass to fix this as it soudns like. LOL. perhaps you could find the aftermarket unit and just make sure all connections are soldered and secure. this is probably the easiest.

the factory alarm disable wire can also just be grounded to the chassis which will tell the alarm to always be off... it doesn't exactly disable the alarm, but it tells it not to activate...

the hood switch that was spoken of is over the driver's headlight.. it would be good to check this while you're dickin around, though i don't think this is your problem. just make sure it seems to be properly positioned

hope this helps.. it was all off my head from my install last summer, and i've done a couple since then. pretty sure i've got that all right though.

I could be wrong, but I believe that someone told me that the alarm has it's own horn... I should probably look this up, but I'm nowhere near my manuals... but anyway, so, the guy told me that all you do is cut the wires to the alarm horn and you're set... though that really doesn't make sense to me now that I think about it... but it it's that simple, what the hell right? Is there a VFAQ on this?

Edit - nothing specifically to do with the alarm, but both these mention the alarm and relays related to the alarm in them - might help find what you need.

I have a 97 Talon ES and the factory alarm has become possesed. I have removed the 10 amp alarm fuse but that does not dissable the alarm (maybe it has connected itself directly to the battery and is slowly taking over the rest of the car!!). Does out there anyone know how to dissable it?

Thanks,

Tom

The way to fix a stock alarm is it hidden under the panels were the radio and vents are. Its on the floor of the car under the carpet under were the radio and stuff is you should see 2 white plugs going into a black box thats the alarm just undo them both and no more alarm.

Hey guys, I am having a weird problem with my factory alarm....If I lock it with the button on the door when I get out, the alarm will usually go off about a minute after that.....Is there a way to disable it completely? With my turbo timer, it usually doesn't get set anyways, so I'm not worried about not having an alarm.

Thanks.

My dumb alarm went off this morning. I haven't used the power door locks or alarm in months. My keychain alarm remote broke and I put it somewhere in my pile of junk. This morning I use my key to unlock the car, open the door and the alarm starts going off. I put the key in the ignition and the car starts. I drive (with horn/lights going off) around the corner. Pull the security fuse from drivers side fuse box, alarm horn stops. I pull the horn fuse in the engine bay, horn stops. My lights kept going off. I waited a few minutes to drive so my lights wouldn't be blinking. I got to work, and open my door to get out, and my lights started going off again.

I'm going to try and find the black box harness under the carpet under the radio to unplug the white plugs and see if that disconnects the alarm.

Hey defiant,
Is pulling the theft alarm horn relay in the engine bay the same as pulling the security fuse inside the interior driver side fuse box?

The factory alarm does its job, but when it does go off I can not get the damn horn to shut off. I tried pressing unlock on the keyfob, going to the door and unlocking the door physically with the key twice, being in the car and turning the ign on and again followed by unlock on the keyfob, nothing.
