Ok, so I'm planning on 350 to 400 whp on my new setup. The only thing I can't decide on is whether or not i want to pull timing(DIS-II) to run more boost or to use meth/water injection and pull less timing and get more power per psi. This is my DD so, just some of you guys thoughts and insight on it would be helpful.

EDIT: oh yea, I will be running 15psi for my low boost setting(So I shouldn't need to pull any or use meth injection for that. But my high boost setting will probably be around 25ish psi. And i'm tunning on pump gas as well. 93 octane

I like the dynatek over the MSD, also is a few hundred cheaper. I would use the snow meth stage 2 kit so when you go into a certain amount of boost the meth would kick in. You can use both the dynatek and meth in your car without a problem instead of trying to decide over one another.

I don't think that's going to happen very easily without an aftermarket engine management system. How do you plan on controlling the larger fuel injectors necessary for that kind of power? Have you looked at Megasquirt? It costs less than an MSD DIS-2 and can control your entire engine. Not only could you have MS control your ignition timing, but it could also actuate a methanol/water injection system.

I agree about using the Dynatek Arc-2 over the MSD DIS-2. I've seen a lot of DIS-2's fail due to engine heat. Crane CDI's used to be the way to go, but since Crane shut their doors, MSD and Dynatek are the only two major players left in the game. I hope the 420A crowd catches on to the Arc-2...

So, you think I should pull timing as well as run the meth? Will the meth/water injection not cut it alone?

I already have something to controll the fuel, its the portfueller.(in my list of mods)

After looking over the Arc-2 I think I will try it over the MSD. If I tuned for meth and not just used it to reduce knock would I need to pull Timing?

Dynatek-

Overview:

• Smallest Lightest CDI on the market

• Simplified Plug in harnesses for easy installs without need for tach adapters

• Over 189mJ delivered to the coil per spark, the highest of any on the market

• Over 500V to the coil primary

• Over 50kV to the coil secondary (assuming a 100:1 coil)

• Intelligent Spark Profiling (ISP) allows for less delay between successive sparks

• Spark Restrike up to 4500 RPM

• Provides this high level of output from as low as 8 Volts from the battery

• Works with any 2 coil OEM ignition, with or without factory ignitor (some systems may require replacement coils)

• Built in launch limiter, works from 2000-11900 RPM

• Built in fixed timing retard function

• Tach output

Technical specifications:

Operating Voltage: 8-20 Volts
Operating Current: 7.0A @ 10,000 RPM
Maximum Operational RPM: 18,000 + RPM
Ignition Inputs: 2 rising or falling edge
Ignition Outputs: 2 independent channels
Coil Primary Energy Max: 189+ mJ
Coil Primary Voltage Max: 500+ V
Restrike Window: 25 crankshaft degrees
Launch limiter input: Single wire, ground to activate launch limit.
Retard input: Single wire, ground to activate timing retard
Tach output: 12V square wave, 50% duty cycle
Dimensions: 4" x 4.6" x 1.4"
Weight: < 1.25 lb.

Adding that to your set-up can't hurt you one bit. Im not saying meth/water injection would or wouldnt do it alone. The dynatek has great features and performance that you can add for under $340. Also adding the meth/water injection stage 2 would allow you to control it, where it kicks in at a certain amount of boost. Saying you wouldnt need to run meth/water injection all day long since this is a DD.

I wasn't planning on running meth injection untill high boost. But I am going to go with the dynatek for now. Can't go wrong with it, thanks for pointing out the dynatek piece. Seems to be a good deal.

I understand what you are planning on doing, thats why I said you can get a stage 2 meth/water injection so when you go in high boost the meth/water would kick in. I'm glad I was able to help
