different thermostat housings?

Ok so i went to change my thermostat housing and it broke. i have a 1998 i grabbed one off a 95 at the junk. brought it home and its different. mine has a threaded hole, for the coolant temp sensor, another opening for the overflow tank and then the radiator cap. the one i picked is just a neck and cap. I asked pepboys and napa the only part that kept coming up was the the one with no opening! i dont know what to do please help...part number or pics would be appreciated thanks

Take a pic, they should be the same housing. There should be 2 sensors, a nipple to hook the heater hose, a nipple for the oil cooler, and a nipple on top for the coolant bottle. It also has the spot for the upper radiator hose and the hole that the water pipe slides into.

Nope not on the one that was on my car..... It has two small openings one for overflow, one for a sensor.then theres the radiator cap and the coolant outlet that goes to the radiator hose ill post a pic in two minutes.

see what i mean? And the one that keeps coming up at the auto parts store is just an outlet for the radiator hose. theres no part number on this piece either

That is for a 1g.

Ok this is kinda tripping me out. I know i have 7bolt bottom end. The head i wa pretty sure was also a 2g head. My intake manifold is from a 7bolt.... I bought the car like this so i have no clue whats up. So your saying thats a 1g thermostat housing? How is that possible
?

Does the water pump pipe goes to the thermostat housing, or to the radiator?.
If it goes to the Thermostat Housing, then it is mostly a 2g Thermostat housing.
If it goes directly to the Radiator, Then it is a 1g Thermostat Housing that you have in there.

Take a pic of the rest of the housing to verify that.

However, the pics looks like 1g housing.

The 1g thermostat housing fits a 2g head (Bolt On).

You can have a 7 bolt head with a 1g thermostat housing.

Just take a pic to the rest of the thermostat housing to see it better.

Big pipe goes straight to radiator....small hose goes straight back to my overflow tank. ill get a pic of the entire housing now....

Then you have a 1g thermostat housing.
Just get a 90, 94 thermostat housing and you are it.

Ok great. I just need the one in the first picture and only the top part. By any chance would you happen to have a part number so i can order this today?
