Hey now I looked for a bit but i thought id ask what difference, if any is there between a GALANT GSX tranny and a 1g TSi AWD tranny?

to the best of my knowledge, the Galant GSX trans isn't the same as any of the dsm trans...

I believe the VR4 trans is the same as the 22-spline dsm trans (came in the 90 TEL AWD)...

Can anyone verify or back that up?

YES!!! Do not try and run the G-GSX tranny in your car! unless you have switched out the rear Diff. to the G-GSX one. The final drive ratios are different from your TSI. you will blow the center diff in the tranny. However, the GVR-4 trans will work and has a taller 1st gear. That would equate to better 60 foot times in the 1/4 mile.
