Differences between inlet manifold

Hi guys,

I am trying to mount an original collector with a bigger butterfly.
For information, I have an eclipse 2G 4G63 N / A.

A friend told me that the intake manifold and the throttle valve were larger on the 1G eclipse, and on the GSX models.

Can you confirm that?

And also, will engine reprogramming be necessary after replacing the intake manifold?

on turbo models Intake runners are larger on 1G. TB was 60mm. 2G TB is 54mm. There was no N/A 4g63 2g in the united states. The cylinder head used determines what intake manifold to use. as far as runners go the larger runners do not mean better. 2g runner size is superior flow wise. so if you have 2g head stay with it. the best manifold to use with 1G head is the cyclone dual runner manifold.

So for you, the best solution is to install an intake manifold and a TB of 1G TURBO?
Reprogramming is mandatory after installation or in your opinion it will work?
And do you know approximatly what is the gain ?

you can install 60mm TB. 1g intake manifold will loose HP on a 2g head.

Ah pity ok and well I give up the idea of the 1G intake manifold then.
The best solution is to put a 2G intake manifold with a 1G TB right? Thank you

Keep in mind that you will have issues with airflow if you put a 1G (60mm) intake manifold on a 2G head. The 1G manifold ports are much bigger. Take a look at this picture:

The 2g style manifolds have higher velocity, not flow. The stock 1g manifold keeps up with any manifold on the market up to about 6500 rpms.
