Just a quick question guys...it's time for me to get an aluminum intake pipe on my 98 GST..is there really any difference between an eBay version and a name brand like Injen? I mean an aluminum pipe is an aluminum pipe right? Any difference in performance between the two because the difference in price is tremendous!

There the same, injen cost more because of there name, pick up the ebay one:thumb:

+1 Very little difference. The biggest difference other then the price is just the name. Ebay intake will work just fine. I was just lucky enough to score an Injen already installed on mine when i bought it. LOL

That's kinda ### I thought...usually i try to stay away from eBay stuff when I can afford name brand items but in this case I figured they're the same...now my other dilemma is that I found a used injen intake pipe for 60 bucks...do I get just the injen pipe alone for 60 or an eBay kit with the pipe, adapter, and filter for 40? Lol I think I'm still sticking with the eBay version on this one...thanks guyS

i just got an ebay one man, i debated the dea back and forth and had enough positive info and feedback from people whop had the ebay one to go wih it and i just installe dit today and it looks and works good...id save my money but if moneys not an issue go witht he namebrand you cant go wrong their either way

I bought my intake from chromeintakes, but also picked up an apexi filter instead of using the one they sent with the intake, although the filter looks pretty decent I didnt like the fact that the attachment to bolt it on looked restrictive and the apexi filters had a nice wide opening

my welds looked alot smoother than the one in the review, and the adapter is the only thing i didnt like about it, my apexi adapter was pretty much fully open to the same shape of the bottom of the filter, this adapter restricts into a 3in circle and where it bolts up to the mas is way more open than the adapter is...I don't know if what I'm trying to say is making sense, Ill try to take pics if it doesnt...all in all the intake is pretty solid and i never had too much trouble with the couplers either

The no-name cheapy filters are junk IMO. This is what happens.

Go with a trusted filter, like the K&N.

K&N filters are worth every penny! I lost the filter with my Injen intake and picked up a ebay filter for $26 shipped. Has worked great. Either way you go, whether it be with the good pipe and cheap filter or with the cheap pipe and good filter, they will both do the same thing! Both ways it is goin to cost you about the same money, so i dont think you can go wrong! :thumb:
