Difference between JDM 4G63 and normal 4G63

What are the differences between these two motors? ive heard the JDM has around 170hp...
 
In addition to that I have a question. I was doing a headgasket on a 95 AWD Talon. Went to EVERYONE to get the correct gasket set and O2 Sensors for the car and we couldn't find anything to work under both Chrystler and Mitsubishi. Had to call up Mitsu and order everything through them. We gave the the serial of the motor and they said it's a JDM Mitsu motor. We can't run any CEL's because our 3000 dollar diag. tool doesn't register it. So that would lead me to assume that the intake is different as well as some of the connections, correct?

hmm.... the block and head should be the same.. i don't know why the headgasket was different, same goes for the 02 sensor.

i'm stumped... someone with more experience should buzz in plz :thumb:
 
The gasket kit they kept giving us looked to be for a 2.4L so that was probably stupid people, but the connections is my main question. Why wouldn't our diag. tool not work his that car, but work on my 95 Talon TSI, and my friends 95 ESI, and my other friend's 97 AWD?

it should have worked.. must have been some other issue with the vehicle, not the fact that it was a cyclone 4g63
 
is the intake manifold the only real difference? then the JDM 4G63 motor cant make THAT much more power can it?
 
JDM and the USA motor are the SAME, same power, specs, same everything. Only little difference is the Intake Manifold, and thermostate housing and the red valve cover.
 
And for you Davis, those guys that served you are retards. A lot of them are, you should find the part numbers yourself and go there. Thats what I do, and is much faster. Takes those guys a million years to find stuff up.
 
hey, thanks for help. i guess the "more power" thing because of different emission laws in the seperate countrys is hear-say.
 
Only JDM motor that has "more power" is the EVO3 motor, they have the yellow injector's. They have 9:1 compression with a Ev3 big 16g turbo, 510cc injectors. I think they make 250HP stock.
