what are the differences,

i just got a "4g63" stamped 6 bolt block it think its a 90-91.

retarted me didn't think it should be stamped "4g63t".

so the 6 bolt is nonturbo
what are the differences can i still use the block for my 6 bolt swap??
came with no piston or rods

only crank and front case, and crank has spun rod bearing

a little P.O. help me out guys,

JJ

yup you can use the block, just grab some oil squirters from a turbo one and throw em in.
easy stuff to do.

logue, you don't need the oil squirters. Your motor will be fine without them unless you are using aftermarket rods. The stock rods have a squirter in them that squirts oil straight up where the turbo oil squirter does.

thats the thing i don't know what i'm doing yet

i was goin for je pistons and eagle rods combo.

i'm looking for about 400 safe whp.

think the stock 1st gen big rods can take 400 safely??

cool 1st gen big rods it is than.

well while i'm here i have another question. a friend (honda kid of course) told me not to go with clevite bearings i should stick with mitsu oem. becuease the clevites aren't made for everycar. there is a small, medium, and large size bearing. and the rod or the mains have to be honed out to fit the bearing. i asked becuease my friend had his motor built by a shop and they put the cleavites in it and 1000 miles later the bottumend main bearings spun and all hell broke lose in the motor becuase the bearings didn't fit right.

does anyone know if this is true or is my friend retarded?

Your friend isn't retarded, just misinformed. The small, medium, large sizes he is talking about is the .010 - .020 - .030 sizes bearings come in.

The rods aren't honed out, you use the different size bearings when you have the crank turned down to remove imperfections. The more metal they take off the journals, the larger bearing you need to make up the difference.

When you get a crank back from the shop they will tell you what size bearing you will need, most reputable shops also stamp it on the end of the crank.

This is also why we recommend using plastigauge to check bearing clearances when doing a rebuild.
