I've done 2 retros. This time I got some tl projectors and retro'd them into my 95 talon w/99 eclipse front end. What I like is that it has a foreground color of gold and a cutoff of blue. These have excellent width and great light output. Very colorful. Anyone have questions I'll be happy to answer.

Pics are crappy but in this pic you can see the light cutoff is razor sharp:

In this picture, you see how far the blue band stretches. ;)

I have more pics but they didn't come out as good as I thought they would. This was a fun project. :talon:

very nice :thumb: is there a writeup on how to do this? i would like to give it a try cause i love hid

Thanks blckalipse. There is a write up, search under the user name TyransGST I belive. It's a good write up. But I can also help if you need extended details.

Just buy a 9006 plug and play. Too many people on here bi*** about H.I.D. in a halogen housing because it doesn't have a sharp cut off. I have NEVER had anyone complain about mine. Just buy a $350 kit and be done with it.

You need projector headlights before you even attempt the retro. You get too much glare from the ricer kit. Here's a comparison when you buy the plug and play.

... Just a question ...

Why is the cutoff line on the ceiling instead of being on the garage door? I think that'd piss people off, being aimed so high, more than HIDs in halogen headlamps xP

Howie~

...just a thought...

Maybe they weren't installed on the car and pic was used just as reference? HID's look really good! nice job. Any opinions on HID's in colors other than blue? I've seen pink and purple but i don't know if they'd be quality like this setup. (i'm not going pink or purple i was just curious)

Off topic but xsojooxshotzx i used to vacation up in Homer - BEAUTIFUL area. I'll be back there someday

You just don't get it do you? Not every car that comes from the factory with HIDs has projectors. I've compared beam patterns with several vehicles that are like this and my beam pattern is no worse then their's. I'd say more than 50% of vehicles world wide don't have projectors. Your cut off beam pattern is has far more glare than mine according to your pictures. The only thing you must remember about plug and play kits is to aim them the right way. There is also the temperature rating that makes a difference. It looks like you have a 4300k bulb and I'm using a 6000k bulb. The differance is the colder rating gives off a brighter white light where mine has a slight blue tint which tends to not travel and light up the road as well.

Right, but I was referring to our cars. The newer cars equipped with HID stock come with the headlight housing made for it. In our case we get the halogen housing which causes glare and might even damage during a retro use. So we upgrade to projectors.

I bought the ebay projectors for the 2gb. Ones with the black housing.

Pictures don't do justice, if I had a camera besides my phone you'd see. Any more questions just ask. :talon:

I wish I had the time/money/patience to that right now. My headlights suck immensely!

PM me on headlights. :D I am selling my car soon anyway.

I meant the actual projectors, not the headlights themselves. From the cut-off they look like TSX or S2000 projectors.

I've had my kit for almost a year and I haven't damaged anything. I looked into the beam pattern when a similar post came up before and I did see how there is a sharp cut off untill I was next to a Toyota Prius one day. I looked at the cut off on its headlights and saw no difference with mine. To test the theory, I checked it against an '02 Maxima, '00 Acura TL, and Nissan 350Z. They were all pretty close to the beam pattern of mine except the 350 was a little tighter. I asked people driving in front of me if my headlights had any glare and they replied no. Checked it from side angles and had the same response. I even tested it with oncomming cars with the same result. I think it is all in the way you aim them.

You might of missed it. It says they are from a TL in his first post.

Right, and I did a color mod to it. Stock cut off is bluish yellow. After the mod the whole cutoff is rich in blue. They also have another mod you can do to it, and that is getting a ZKW lens, which is a clear lens, and man you'll have the best HID setup there is! :thumb:

how about a picture of your lights turned on towards a wall?

Would you guys mind sharing the mysterious " color mod "

Didn't mean to make you feal left out. You know what the cut off is right? Well you can do mods, depending on projectors, such as adding washers to the screws that keep the projector and the lens together. So when it's spaced out it gives the cutoff more color. But on my projector there's a stopper on the shield which adds space so I took it out to decrease space. And I got more color.. You get it? :)

This is my second HID Retrofit. This time, I'm using Acura TSX Projectors inside an aftermarket housing.

If anyone wants to retrofit, I can help with mounting, cutoff modification, wiring harness, etc...

I'm still working on a wall-shot, but I hope this will do for now. Notice the blue hue at the cut-off line... delicious!

LED Halos are still holding up well... but I'm putting in CCFL when I get a chance (probably when they burn out).

More pictures to come!

WE NEED CUT OFF LINE ON AN OPEN ROAD!!!!!!!!! Ohhh sooo sexy! Great job!

Haha, thanks... a wide-open road is hard to come by here in Long Beach... but I WILL put up some wall shots at various distances very soon... as soon as I find a good white wall. ;0)

Nice!! Looks amazing...Nice to know there's a DSM headlight expert only minutes from me...I may have to contact you when I have some extra money for this...I hate not being able to see anything at night! :|
