Washington,
I've been trying to work out some calculations in planning for another turbo setup that I'm buliding for a GVR-4 i just picked up and I have a few questions.

Given a stock block (heads & cams) and a conservative tune (11.5:1 A/F ratio), how high would intake temperatures have to be before before it starts knocking on 92 octane pump gas? How high would intake temperatures have to be before it starts knocking on race gas (C116 and 103 octane)?

Feel free to ask me any other questions about this theoretical setup.

With my SMIC & 14b at 23psi, I was getting knock by 3rd gear on VP 103 unleaded. The charge temps were about 130-140F when knock started to occur. The AFRs were around 11.5-12:1. On pump gas, it would knock almost immediately in any gear with those settings, adding more fuel didn't help much, turning the boost down to 18 pr less is the only thing that would help.

What is the pressure loss of the stock intercooler? Were those the actual manifold temperatures or the IAT readings that the ecu saw?

Not sure what the pressure drop is, probably only 1psi or so. I'm actually running a Dejon big SMIC which helped a little, but not enough. I'm currently putting together a water/air setup for this season. Those temps are measured right before the TB with an AutoMeter air temp peak/hold gauge.

I know that ambient and other factors affect intake temps but what is considered a decent IAT range? Thanks, Mark
