today i installed my new delta 272/272 cams car starts and lopes and revs very smoothly . however my vacuum gauge normally reads -20 and after the cams it reads -10 at idle .also when i drive and put a decent load or go into boost i am hearing knocking/ticking only when engine is under a good amount of load . in neutral if i rev to 6-7k there is no noise . what could both of my problems be ? i did install the shims under the lifters . i matched up the crank ,both cam gears (dowel pins pointing up and notches at 3 and 9 o clock dead oN) balance shaft on the left matching notch and oil pump gear lined up ( i dont know if its in phase but there isnt any vibrations ........ any help would be appreciated . noises scare me ......

Your lower vacuum is because you have more overlap, ie less pulling from the piston to get that value up to what it used to be. That is a good thing in a performance standpoint.
As for the noise, I would assume it is lifter tick regardless of what you say, purely because that is the only thing you did while you were replacing the cams correct?

FYI, my BC272's ran about -15psi at a fairly lopey 850rpm idle.

yes shims are in under the lash adjusters . ok well i was hoping it was just the cams making less vacuum and not something else . Thanks i just didnt thing it would go from -20 to -10 ......im worried about the tick/knocking noise i hear under load . could the balance shaft not being in phase cause noise or starve anything of oil ?

So what gains have you noticed? How is the idle? Does it have a nice lump?
Im really wanting to get some cams and have been trying to find out as much info as I can on delta.
Does anyone know how close the hks they are? Im not to sure how to read a cam card.

well they are lumpy for sure . i feel a slower rev from 1k to 3.5 k but after 3-4k rpms it flys up ......and top end at 19psi is amazing . i did notice a difference in power i like !! guys at delta are nice and cams arrived in 4 days 200 bucks after cores are sent back 60 bucks core
