Sup, new guy to the DSMtuners.com forums obviously... I'm a honda guy... Regular on ClubRSX.com. Decided to go for an early 90's DSM over an integra... they just dont have enough speedROFL

Anyways, I'm in the market for a 92-95 Talon TSi AWD. All Wheel Drive is a must. I've read most of the tech guides on the main page about differences in the models and the routes to 300whp and 400whp. As of now my plans are pretty conservative... I'm still in high school and want a quick car to get around in... Basically needs to get me to school everyday (5-10 minute drive.)

In time I want to get it into the 300-350WHP range, possibly high 11's.:coy:

Questions:

Which year should be the best? The pros and cons just arent clear.. I like the 1G style, weight, and power more... I'm just not too sure about the little things like EPROM and such... Don't care much about looks. Nice paint, some good wheels and tires, tint, and a little drop thats easy on the eyes is all I like..

What should I look for while buying? Mostly engine wear and problems... outside of the tradition rust and wear of a 12+ year old car...

Overall I will probably not dump much more than 10-12k into this car, might park it while I go to college and pick up a reliable beater and continue later though.

Cheers, hope to become a regular here pretty soon. :p NC crew holla

compression check, then buy haha. Look for smoking stuff like that...then drive it..is it smooth? maybe.....youll hope it will be. Eprom is good to have but if you cant find one with it...you can always pick one up for anywhere between 150-300 later on. Goodluck. 400 whp is pretty easy on these WITH the right tuning and supporting mods....12K should take you where you want to go and beyond.

Mitsu dealerships would do a compression test for a talon correct? Mod list would probably go through all supporting mods first and in the end slap on a bigger turbo. What numbers am I looking at for a good test? Say are numbers that are high 160 across grouped together okay?

Good decision... Thats about as good a decision as jumping off a bridge , or not jumping off a bridge LOL...

And as far as compression depends on which gen you get, 1gs have lower compression than 2gs, but im not 100% sure on the numbers so i wont speak for it. But I drive a 1g and love it, and it looks tough, and if you dont care about looks id go 1g, ( since most will obviously say 2g looks better, despite its more played out, at least around where I live.. More common to see a nice 2g than 1. )

i dont know if youve seen this-

Now dont be so quick onto the horsepower train, get the car, get used to it, learn its flaws and strong point, make sure you have done full tune up, suspension upgrades will be needed, make sure your brakes are 100% and that your engine can handle what you throw at it. And since your coming from the honda realm, your in a whole nother legue now with turbo, so learn about everything first, and trust me it gets complicating, Im still trying to learn stuff myself , ( you could know everything about a car and engine and how they operate ) but a dsm, or any turbo charged car will be a new experience for a noobie at that matter. But once you get your project going you will soon want to "search and destroy" all the proud, cocky, honda guys you meet at the track... LOL

I already do want to S&D. Thanks for the feedback... all the standard tune up and maintainence would probably come within a week of purchase ^_^ I'm young but I know how shit works...

At least you have taken the time to look around the site instead of just posting right away. If you dont mind me asking why would you only want a 95 TSI, eprom ecu? Good luck on your search. PS. make sure you read the whole venting/recirculation threads.

Hey man... How's it going... I just fed myself... and my cat... she was mean.. I went to feed her and... she clawed me... so I kicked her... and... she went... ROAWRRRRRRRRR... I swear man... cats... they will be the... end... of the... world...

Lol okay leet I get it. More with the periods less with the ellipse:coy:

As for spooling99 I don't want to get into the later 2G models just due to cost and how out played they are. All the typical eclipse ricers you know? 7 bolt crankwalk :notgood:

Your speaking about BOV recirculation right? I know. Instead of wasting the pressure for louder TFFFFFF sounds by releasing into the atmosphere you put it back into the intake. Recycling pressure FTW

You are correct.

Excessive periods will drive everyone here batshit insane, as will venting your BOV to atmosphere. God, that's a hard word to type when you're drunk.

Good luck and have fun with your ride
