Having some trouble selecting a t28. I see the garrett and the FP t28. My question is are there any differences? Do they both bolt on like stock? Im looking for 260-280 whp so I wanna go this way for the sleeper look. Lol. The price for the Fp28 is almost a grand. Where as i can get the garrett for around 800. Any input is appreciated.

I know this but i want a t28 i neve will push this car above 300 whp. Its my daily. I have another car for the fun stuff! Rx7! Just looking for info on the above question.

I love the Fp B28, well worth the money, direct bolt on, quick spooling, and looks completely stock. I reach Full boost by 2800 rpm. This turbo comes on strong, through the low end, and mid-range, but holds boost to redline. 550cc injectors, and 190lph pump along with some tuning (safc/link/etc) will bring this guy to full potential, and make the goals you are looking for.

Fp is known for great customer service, and builds a damn fine product.

The FP b28 is on par with the Evo 3 16g, with the E316g out flowing it by 50cfm.

Remember a 16g, or 14b will require an install Kit, and J-Pipe, and depending on the vendor that could be an additional $200-$300 for both. Plus Price of the turbo.

Thank you for your post. This is exactly how i feel. How long have you had your t28?

Couldn't disagree more. You can buy a perfectly operating 14b or 16g for that matter for under $300. You will have more room to grow and more money in your pocket. $200 is a worst case senario on the install kit. 14/16s look really stock too. Don't waste youR money.

I've had the FP B28 for 5 years, and it hasn't let me down.

the 14/b16g does look stock, on a 1g. and an E316g which is the "best in class" for the 16 can not be had for just 300bucks,

everyone will say get a 14b, get a 16g.... meh I bought my Fp B28 with the goals of 300 hp to the wheels, No More. so room to grow? i didn't need it. i had plenty already.

I got exactly what i wanted, a quick spooling, hard hitting turbo, that required minimal mods to reach it's potential.

The other potential issue with the 14b or 16g is boost creep if you upgrade exhaust and don't have mods to support 20psi. Yes, you can fix the creep a number of ways, but none of them are free. I've had my fpb28 since I joined the forum. No problems.

^ huh, and a wiseman to boot.

There will always be people that say.."save your money", "get a 14b/16g", these are the same things that get said every time there is a T28 thread.

you'll be hard pressed to find an unhappy Fp b28 owner. I do recommend getting it ported to 7cm, and they all now come with the upgraded wastegate actuator.

Well if money is what your not worried about I would get the FP B28. Just like in the previous posts is a direct bolt on and less of a hastle.Plus if you get a 16g or 14b chances you would get a used turbo with tons of miles on it.The FP B28 should get your power goals and then some if you really want.

The way I look at it the t-28 is the 2g's 16g.
Everyone says a 16g will get you further that a t-28 but its hard to say because everyone jumps on the 16g bandwagon and never true pushing the t-28 to its limits. Look at how far the 14b has been pushed. With enough effort im sure you could take a t-28 past the 300whp everyone says its limited to.

Great info. The most i will ever want is 300whp. The simplicity of the install is a bonus. This is really the idea turbo for me. I do not want a 16g. Everyone that has them seems to love them.

I am running a fpb28. It pulls hard, looks like stock on my car. It was the replacement for my e316g. Which can be had for under $300. ( I bought mine for $250 cdn with less than 500km on it.) I got my fpb28 for $300 with another manifold, o2 atmo dump and all the lines.

I like the t28, I don't have boost creep, it spools fantastically great and it'll work with very little mods or on a full setup. I have had it for about 8 months on my dd.

The e316g, I did not have all my fuel mods for it when I first started using it and with boost creep it kicked me up into fuel cutoff. Nothing better than trying to pass a transport and having fuel cut kick on you when in the oncoming traffic lane. :D fun times.

My final 2 cents. Get what you want and have fun with it. It's you car, your dime and your time.

T28 is my eventual upgrade path too. My question is; Why does it cost so much???

Basically Take a New Garret t28, mod it , and resell it. If you're worried about the cost they occasionally come up on ebay, and for sale on the classifieds. get it cheap, then send it off to FP for a rebuild. Bang! new turbo.

that's how i got mine, Ebay for $450 and change, 200+ for the rebuild.

The way I look at it the t-28 is the 2g's 16g.

I honestly believe on E85 this turbo could easily do 350 Hp. Not to mention this Turbo is Awesome on an Automatic Trans.

Lol im sold. What o2 housing compliments this turbo? I was looking at the megan with dump tube to help control any creep issues or would stock be fine.

Stock 2g one is fine. You can fit any mitsu flanged o2 housing on there, but you will get tired of the o2 dump and so will the cops.

While the turbo's off, gasket match the hotside and O2 and port the O2 outlet to match the inlet of your new, 3" turboback. You'll flow more and hold boost to redline. Hell, why not port the turbine inlet and ex. mani? It's a lot easier than dropping everything again later and doing it.

I had a fp bt28 on my car for 20k miles running it around 22psi and with my mods made 347awhp/362awtq. Very fun and long lasting turbo without having to go crazy, I was pulling on bpu+tune evos and 50trim gst from 40 rolls...then again I brake boost like a mofo.

Been thinking about buying a fp manifold. Really wanna keep my heatshield though, im looking at the 2.5''dp. 3" necessary?
