I found a 1g TSI FWD for sale for 200$ with a blown motor and the windshield and driver side window missing (they bought it for parts) the motor sounds like a timing belt issue as when asked about it I was told "orginally bought it off someone because they had problems with the the motor something to do with one of the cam's"

So a rebuild with new internals and a new head would give me the chance to build a race motor and not have to make my 2g a powerhouse leaving me with a relatively reliable year round DD.

Likely would be aiming for low 12's high 11's on the project, FWD but I don't really mind I can drive FWD much much better anyway.

Doesn't sound bad at all. The glass should be easy to find, and if you are planning on a rebuild, the motor being blown is actually a good thing. When you pull it to rebuild it, you will at least know everything that is wrong...and then right when you put it back together. Are you planning on making this a full on race car? High 12s or even low 11's should be relatively easy to obtain with this car.

Yeah man. $200, grab it. Rebuild it for a few hundred.. grab the glass from a local PAP(Pull a part) and be set!

Here is the car, I figure if its in unrepairable shape I can part it out and get my money back.

Apparently it only needs a driver side window.

My only worry is it not being AWD but still for 200$ I could sell the rims as winter rims and make my money back LOL

Haha. FWD isn't too bad. ^^ I've tasted both worlds... and I enjoy both.

i traded my cougar xr7 with a blown headgasket for my 92 even with the motor problems im experienceing its still worth it. i was looking at about $1000 to fix the cougar and my 92 n/a needs maybe 300 to be in good runnin order. mine is also fwd and i dont seem to mind it i think u found one hell of a deal and i wouldnt pass it up

Well keep in mind this FWD has a blown engine.

As you said you can't go wrong buying it for $200. FWD is definitely going to hold you back if you decide to stick with it though. You could always rebuild the motor anyway and sell the shell, then down the road drop the motor in an awd shell.

There are multiple ways to 'blow an engine.'

What happened to this one? Do you happen to know?

"orginally bought it off someone because they had problems with the the motor something to do with one of the cam's."

I was told that and only that about the engine, as far as I can tell it means the timing belt blew up.

You could sell the stock wheels and collect the scrap metal rebate check from a wrecker and make your money back...so great deal, and if its nothing serious awesome deal.

Is that your 2g in your avatar? Is that one turbo AWD? If so buy the 1g and fix it up for a DD, then build the 2g up for race.
