I have a 96 gsx and I just got a logger for it. The software that came with it I am not all that fond of. I was wondering what most people with a logger are running. This is on a palm M100 I believe it is. It has a color screen. I was wondering what parameters can be logged off of a 2g? and what is the best software and where to find it. Thanks

You'll want to log RPM/timing/front O2. You can also look at your coolant temp, but if I remember right the more Items you log the slower the rate is between what's really happening and what your seeing on your Palm. You should also be able to read engine trouble codes and reset the CEL, which is a nice feature. Some basic things to look for on your logs are that the timing will go down when you run into boost and then build back up again and top out in the 17* area on pump gas, if you see your timing decrease a second time then you are probably knocking and need to either adjust your fuel settings or lower your boost level and try it again. Start your pulls in 3rd gear at 3,000rpms and go until you hit 7,000rpms (staying in 3rd the whole time). You'll also want to start off tuning at a lower boost setting than your target and work your way up until you feel confortable. If your not running the Pocket logger software then the only other one I know of is Palm'n stein which wasn't bad to me once I got use to it, but good luck :thumb: .

Thanks for the help guys. I have one more question. I have my check engine light on from my rear O2 sensor (I am running Catless). I was wondering is there a way to clear this and make it stay off without any major work? I bought one of those things to imitate a signal and fake out the computer, but it didn't work or I didn't wire it in quite right. If anyone has a diagram of how the wiring on it would go or knows a trick it would help. The wiring guide they sent me I followed, but it didn't work. Or if anyone has what the wires back there on the second O2 sensor are coming from the car side, that would be great.

I didn't read the link that 4BangR-X posted, so this might be a double post.

Anyway.......You just have to wrap the rear O2 in foil and zip tie it out of the way. Just make sure that you clear the code and let the O2 pluged in. Problem solved. :thumb:

I've had the logger from www.dsmloggers.com for quite awhile, and I LOVE it. It's only like $150 if I remember correctly for us 2G folk. And speaking of 2G, for our OBD II I don't think we can log coolant temp like somebody had said earlier...but again, that's only what I BELIEVE!!
I know that for my system you can perform Test Mode, Chart frames, digital mode, fast log mode (automatic setting though), scale charts by time, auto save/play, single chart, color (option), monitor, and auto start. You can actually log: Rpm, o2v, timing, tps, air flow, short trim, long trim, air temp, water temp, and mph.
On the website (as well as the palm pilot) it says that you can log a couple more things as well, however you just arn't able to, however for us 2G's, what you ARE able to log is going to be plenty, even if you are going to be adjusting the fuel curves.
Again, I'm very happy with my system. It's an M100 palm pilot, the kit comes with everything you need, and it works wonders. Good Luck!!

Yes, you can definately log coolant temp. :thumb:

Actually, I use the pocketlogger program to warn me if my coolant temp goes too high. It flashes the screen and beeps at me if it makes it over my pre-set limit.
