Best Datalogger software for a laptop running windows XP?

Oookay.

I've been playing with the cable and I guess I need a logging for dummies guide....

I'm getting ready to download/install a palm emulator for my laptop so I can run the tunerstein or other similar logger software on the laptop. Who makes a good, solid program for laptop based datalogging?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
