Dashboard Swap

There a couple dashboard threads I haven't found an answer to this issue through them though. I have the dash all lined up on both sides only problem is I cannot get it pushed into place on either side or in the middle I have tried slamming it with no luck. Contemplating taking it out again and making sure the tabs are still on the dashboard as I should have done that before but didn't think this would be an issue. Also the other problem I ran into is I broke the overdrive button and cant get the damn button out or the little white box attached to it. I have tried using a small screw driver from the outside of the over drive button to pop it off but that hasn't seemed to work. I need to get it off so I can fix that spring in the white box that I messed up.

did you make sure the 3 studs like an inch or 2 below the windshield are all going into the holes on the dash?

Thanks for the reply and yeah I think thats the problem I didn't know if there really is much of a way to tell if they are lined up besides just getting it in place and giving er' a nice push. I'm going to pull it out again and try to line those up first.
