I have a 1998 GST automatic that I recently rebuilt. On my first attempt to crank the car, ive noticed that I hear a noise coming from the starter. However, the car doesn't spun or nothing. The battery is not dead. The car's dash lights (SRS, Brake, Oil pressure, battery) STAYS on when the car's key isn't even in the ignition. Can anyone please point me in the right direction.

Since you recently rebuilt it, recheck all your connections. I've failed to do this plenty of times jist to get irritated that the car doesn't start, only to find out it was my fault. For the items remaining on, look for any crossed wires, groinded wires that shouldn't be, ungrounded wires that should be, ect... Maybe pull the associated fuses and see if they remain on.
