Hey guys,

I recently replaced my alternator with a brand new one. When i turn on my car now, my dash lights and headlights get dim then bright also my fuel pump sounds loud then soft. I went through and checked my nuts and bolts on the alternator. What do you all think the problem could be?

Thanks,
Steve

double check all of your grounds. Especially the ones on the battery where corrosion can build up and prevent a good connection. If the problem still continues, you might want to take the alternator to autozone or some other parts store and have them put it on a tester to check the voltage regulator in the alternator.

Hey guys,

I went out and checked all my grounds on the alternator and the battery, they are all very tight with no corrosion, i guess i need to take out the alternator and bring it back to where i got it from and have them check it. Also i got the correct size alternator and my belts don't squeak at all. This only happens when i first turn on the car, after i put it in drive and and go around the block for a minute, everything works perfectly fine. if i turn the car off then back on everything works fine. Does my alternator need time to break in or something?
