hey guys so i just noticed that my dash lights are coming on when i push on the brake and blinking with my turn signal in my 97 eclipse rs. I have the lights switched to the off position and they stay off, but they come on as soon as i press the brake or put on my right turn signal. if anyone could put me in the right direction as to where to start i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance guys

Also my e-brake light is stuck on too. Its been like that for months im not sure if it is related im just trying to give as much information as possible.

Sounds like a obvious short. Crawl up under your dash and look for any ripped wires behind the cluster area. Check the wires off the rear lenses as well for any shorts.

Also check your bulbs. I had a Jeep that did the same thing. Turns out the filament on the dual filament bulb broke and fell on the parking light filament. Weird failure but it happens.

okay thanks for the quick replies. ill begin looking into those things asap. Any chance me not having my headunit in the car could have any thing to do with it?

Your alternator is dying.

Re-fill your brake fluid.

thanks Defiant good call on the brake fluid. It didnt need re-filled but i took the cap off to check it and put it back on and now the light is off :thumb:

I just replaced my alternator last december along with a new serpentine belt. I haven't noticed a loss of power anywhere in the car. Ill still look into getting the alternator tested and post back when i figure out the results.

So it turns out that my passengers side brake light socket was bad and that is what was causing my dash lights, parking lights, license plate light, head unit, and dome lights all to flash with the turn signal. Now that it is replaced everything is back to normal. hope this thread helps someone out in the future!
