Damn... [questions about general maintenance]

Ive heard alot about the maintenance on these cars and its a little disappointing to hear about the downfalls and downsides of the older dsm's, like i said i might be getting that 1991 gsx in a few weeks so itd be great if someone would help me out with changing the coil pack and then if someone could tell me the recommended fluids for the particular vehicle and what precautions or parts should be checked before modding the machine.. I want this car to be fun and reliable, i dont want to dump money into it for repairs, i want to start it off right and maintain it well.. So if someone can help me thatd be great..thx

DO repairs first and mod later. You said it this are old cars and like every old car they have some worn parts and require maintenance.

Yea if i get it I need to install a coil pack, i want it done right, and then i want to clean it out throughly and replace the plugs and hosing and the fluids... scince im knew to this ill probably ask for help but i wont now cause i dont own it yet... "keepin my fingers crossed"

Keep in mind to change seals and misc. gaskets as well, in the long run they will save you the frustration, time, and money.

The coils will be tit, there expensive though. Advanced auto wanted 96 bucks a piece for them here in maine. Do all your maintence and your golden, the haynes manual is one thing you'll want to pick up. Haynes manual will tell you all the maintence stuff you can do to your car. Good luck with your dsm when you purchase it.
