Dad's looking at a 99 Eclipse for me!!

Well, i recently got accepted into Coastal Carolina University, and with that, my dad is wanting to buy my first car. My mind has been made up for the past 2 years. I want a 1997-99 Eclipse gs/rs (no turbo, going to college, need it dependable, insurance). im currently 17, ill be 18 July 21st. Well, im currently living in Charlotte, NC with my brother and sister while my parents are in Virginia. Well, i found an eclipse on autotrader at a near by dealer where my parents live. its a 1999 OZ Eclipse 61k miles, silver, auto, black leather, all the fixings. it even has a bra on it so it has been protected from scratches. its a trade in by a couple who just bought a jeep cherokee. im not that excited that its an auto, i want a stick, but u cannot argue with a free car. It dont really matter to me, im not a performance junky and i dont know enough about them to make them a fast street car. IM just doing like a header, full cat-back, cai, rims, a few exterior mods, nothing major. im gonna fix up my interior a little bit too. they were asking 12 for it, but i emailed the guy, who is sending me additional pics and he said the price just dropped a good deal, but has not updated on how much it costs now. I just told my dad about it today, and he and my uncle is going up there monday to see, as they have a day off work. my dad seemed interested, now if i get it or not, i have no idea, we been through some financial trouble lately, but its a possibility. I sure hope something works out. Alright, sorry so long, just thought id tell u about it.

hey dude...i was in ur position this past fall.im a senior in high school too. i was lookin all over for the perfect eclipse n/t. dont worry bout not getting a turbo dude...its ur FIRST car. u will have plenty more cars and maybe even a nice turbo later. its cool that u have decided on an eclipse and stuck wit it. the only advice im gonna give u is to be patient. look at a buncha eclipses before u buy it. i musta looked at at least 6 before i found mine.also think of some things ur car MUST have. mine was that it had to be a stick, under 100k, and under 5000. check autotrader,newspapers,local magazines, and ask around everyday. thats what i did. i got a 96 eclipse wit 85k miles for 3650 from an old dude. this guy kept really good care of the care and even spent several hundred changin timin belt, water pump, struts, etc. months before he sold it. i spent all the extra money i saved on some mods on my car.so keep these things in mind and good luck!

I hope you absolutly love this N/T eclipse.

But your damn way over paying for it and you dont seem like you appreciate some of these peoples comments saying that this is a bad deal. So when you come back in 3 months when your not satisfied most will be here with a "I told you so"

dude....i am not buying this car. jeez. I said i am going to look at it and see how it is and what my parents think, not that I am going to buy it. I am definately keeping my options open. But this is part of buying a first car and i just wanted to check this car out. Sorry for any confusion.

That is way too much for a N/T... My 96 gs was under 6k with only like 70k miles on it plus all the bells and whistles. If i were u i would look a little more on autotrader cause i live in NC and i found some on there for pretty cheap and not many miles on them.
